EAVE project THE MAN WHO KNEW 75 LANGUAGES now in production
- DIE BLUMEN VON GESTERN by Chris Kraus, producer: EAVE graduate Danny Krausz is shooting in Berlin. In this turbulent romantic comedy, a German Holocaust historian and descendant of a famous Nazi criminal is deeply troubled because of his origins, his career and his general misanthropy. In the midst of his existential and marital crisis, he meets a French research assistant whose grandmother was killed in the concentration camp at Auschwitz. Her unconventional attitude and openness are quite irritating to him, but when he gets closer to her, his whole life is turned upside down. The script had already been awarded the acclaimed Thomas Strittmatter Prize. The shoot is taking place in Berlin, Stuttgart, Vienna, Riga and New York. The project received production support from MFG Baden-Württemberg, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the Federal Film Board, the German Federal Film Fund, the Austrian Film Institute, the Filmfonds Wien, FISA – Filmstandort Austria and Eurimages.
- PILGRIMAGE by Brendan Muldowney, producer: EAVE graduate Conor Barry, co-producer: EAVE graduate Alexandra Boussiou commenced a seven-week shoot in April on the west coast of Ireland and the Ardennes region of Belgium. Based on a script by Jamie Hannigan and set in 13th-century Ireland, the movie follows a small group of monks as they undertake a treacherous pilgrimage to escort their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. The film was developed with the assistance of the Irish Film Board (IFB) and Creative Europe, and will be financed by the IFB, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, Wallimage and the Wallonia Cultural Fund.
- EAVE project THE MAN WHO KNEW 75 LANGUAGES by Anne Magnussen and Pawel Debski, producer: EAVE graduate Živile Gallego is in production. The animated documentary is about the language genius Georg Julius Justus Sauerwein who sacrificed his academic career to live among the most oppressed groups in Europe, the linguistic minorities. He fought for people’s right to speak their mother tongue and the use of the mother tongue in primary education. Because of his great linguistic talent he was headhunted to be the tutor of the beautiful and talented Princess Elisabeth of Wied in Germany who became the first queen of Romania and a famous writer of books, articles and poems. The film received funding from the Lithuanian Film Centre. Filming started in Lithuania and moves to Poland.
NIGHTLIFE in post-production.
- NIGHTLIFE by Damjan Kozole EAVE group leader Danijel Hocevar is in post-production. The story is about an affluent upper-middle class couple. Lea is a college professor of solid principles, Milan a successful attorney.
