Call for applications: EAVE Producers Workshop 2017 - deadline September 16, 2016

EAVE is aimed at producers, both fiction and documentary, who are already working in the film and television industries who wish to begin to operate on a European wide basis by increasing their knowledge of producing and co-producing in Europe and by building up a pan European professional network. We also welcome applications from associated branches of the industry – e.g. commissioning, funding, legal and finance, festivals & markets, media administration. Each year fifty participants are selected from most of the EU countries and beyond and take part in three one-week long workshops.

Half the participants attend the course with projects and it is an excellent means of development through intense focus on the project with colleagues and experts throughout the year. Most participants attending with a project also bring their writer for the first two weeks which enables producer and writer to benefit together from one-to-one sessions with script experts.

During the first two workshops, participants work within groups led by experienced producers and with several experts on script analysis, development and production financing, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching, packaging and more. In the third workshop 50-60 Decision Makers (commissioning editors, national and regional media funds, sales agents, etc.) join the participants to discuss the projects, companies and careers of the participants, a process which offers unusual access to Europe's Decision Makers.

R/O  inititated by Franc?ois Pernot, Média-Participations group, is an institute that fosters the creation of original content and the acceleration of transmedia projects built around tomorrow’s heroes and rich intellectual properties. It is a 6 to 9 months immersive training that aims at tuning strong narrative projects for today’s convergent market. On top of solidifying their story architecture and building their cross-platforms storytelling, the talents are offered numerous networking opportunities and business deals ranging from development grants to post-production services and publishing hooks. Talents are also welcome to experiment in a state-of-the art lab, the R/O sandbox, fully equipped with the latest tech and dedicated developers that are available for the talents to try out new forms of storytelling and prototype their creative ideas.

The R/O institute is not a school. It takes the form of a conference cycle, specialized coaching, pitching sessions and regular workshops that are organized in English for international participants. The methodology is project centered and driven by measurable achievements. Thanks to gamified analytics and an interactive evaluation app, talents will be stimulated to reach objectives and improve their skills. Around 25 skills that are essential to any narrative IPs are taken into consideration across the whole duration of the training such as #charactersopacity, #IP iconography, #raconteur, #socialcurrency, #environment, #mythology #revenuestreams... Improving each of those skills will level the project up to global market standards. From Producers to Producers

The annual invitation by the Swiss producers for a peer to peer exchange with producers from other countries at the Locarno Film Festival

What are the opportunities and risks for smaller European countries to (co)-produce successful films within the international community?

A model without automatic support

How should one reward a box office success and festival success? The Danish Film Institute abolished automatic funding five years ago for another model. That option was initially deplored by the Danish film producers, but is now established as solid market oriented scheme.

Claus Ladegaard, Head of Film Funding at the Danish Film Institute, will explain the currentscheme, and a renowned Danish producer will tell about his experience with it. The debate will focus on the selection and funding criteria and their effect on the box office results of the films. A reconciliation between art and commerce?

Favorable conditions to be attractive for coproductions

In addition, the debate is intended to shed light on how small countries can be attractivefor co-productions. Per Neumann, founder and CEO of European Film Bonds, will present strategic opportunities and relate some successful co-productions and the needed know how to make them successful.

A broad scope of themes to be shared and discussed in a moderated presentation and debate for the first half of the meeting, and in an informal part – a cocktail reception – in the second half.

Registration deadline: 29 July 2016. The event is free of charge but prior registration is compulsory at:

EP2C post-production workshop 2016

Application Deadline: June 30

Are you a producer or a post-production supervisor looking for a smoother post-production for your feature films (fiction or documentary)

EP2C is a project based workshop, mainly designed for producers and dedicated to post-production management. The workshop is also open to post-production supervisors. During  one week, technical, financial and artistic post-production challenges are addressed in lectures, group sessions and individual meetings.

Once a year, the workshop welcomes 22 participants and some 20 international experts specialised in various aspects of post-production and international co-productions.

EP2C was created in 2009 in the firm belief that a well-scheduled, well-budgeted, well-run post-production, apart from saving the producer a lot of work, time, and money, will most of all protect the film from unnecessary artistic compromise.

Producers come with a feature film project (fiction or documentary at development stage) on which they will work with the experts for a week.

Post-production supervisors are assigned to producers' projects. The workshop gives them an opportunity to share experiences and talk about methods used in their countries. This annual itinerant workshop is supported by the Media Programme of the European Union and was created on the initiative of the Belgium production company Entre Chien et Loup (Diana Elbaum & Sébastien Delloye).
