THE LITTLE STRANGER shooting in the UK

THE LITTLE STRANGER by Lenny Abrahamson, producer: EAVE graduate Ed Guiney is shooting. Lenny Abrahamson has commenced principal photography at UK locations. Adapted by BAFTA nominee Lucinda Coxon from the bestselling novel by Sarah Waters, the film is a ghost story that tells the tale of Dr Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long, hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline, and its inhabitants – mother, son and daughter – are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling, Ruth Wilson, and Will Poulter.

THE LITTLE STRANGER is a Focus Features, Pathé and Film4 presentation in association with Ingenious Media and the Irish Film Board. It is being produced by Potboiler (UK), in association with Element Pictures.

EAVE project SIREN’S CALL is entering post-production

In Post-Production

  • HER JOB by Nikos Labôt, producer: EAVE graduate Maria Drandaki has entered post-production. The screenplay, written by the director and Katerina Klitsioti, follows 37-year-old Panagiota, who lives with her husband Kostas and their two children in a petit bourgeois Athenian neighbourhood. Kostas has been unemployed since the financial recession hit the family. The pressure created by this event extends to the couple’s relationship and affects their children’s behaviour, too. Confronting the problems in her previously comfortably off household, Panagiota, whose only task was to take care of everyone, now needs to get a job for the first time in her life. There, the heroine will face ruthless exploitation and will be forced to find a new identity. The project took part in the first edition of the First Films First (FFF) training programme and the When East Meets West Co-production Forum in 2016. HER JOB is a Greek-French-Serbian co-production by Maria Drandaki (Homemade Films), Julie Paratian (Sister Productions) and Milan Stojanovi? (Sense Production). The film is supported by the Greek Film Centre, ERT SA, the CNC, the Film Center Serbia and Cineventure. It was developed with the support of the SEE Cinema Network, and the world sales have been secured by French company Jour2Fête.

  • EAVE project SIREN’S CALL by Ramin Matin, producer: EAVE graduate Emine Giyotin, co-producer: EAVE graduate Magdalena ?lieva has finished shooting. The black comedy is set in the New Istanbul, a city that has become a ticking time bomb conquered by chaos, engulfed by its own concrete jungle and a mob of 15 million people. Weary 9-to-5er Tahsin has had it, he’s getting out of this joint and he’s decided to take off to the picturesque Mediterranean coast. He packs his essentials, hits the road. But what begins as a hopeful journey transforms into an absurd and comical urban nightmare in this mega-city. The film has received production funds from both the Turkish Ministry of Culture and the National Bulgarian Film center.

  • THE PRIZE (aka DARA JU) by Anthony Onah, producer: EAVE graduate Kishori Rajan has been sold to Samuel Goldwyn Films. Seyi, a 24-year-old Nigerian-American, works on Wall Street. Desperate to succeed because of his outsider status—due to class and race—he commits a crime, insider trading, which brings his entire world crashing down on him. Seyi’s troubled circumstances force him finally to confront his tumultuous relationship with his ailing father, his romantic relationship with his privileged white girlfriend, and his racial and immigrant backgrounds—with nothing less at stake for him than his soul. EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH 2018 – 12th edition

Call for short film projects

Application deadline – 30th of September 2017

About European Short Pitch

European Short Pitch is an initiative aimed at promoting the European coproduction of short films. It combines a scriptwriting workshop in residency and a coproduction forum bringing together scriptwriters, directors and industry professionals from all over Europe.

Selected on the basis of their short film projects, 16 European talents gather to discuss, rewrite, and learn to promote their stories on a European level with the support of 4 tutors. They eventually pitch their projects in front of a panel of professionals: over 55 producers,

financiers, buyers, and distributors.

European Short Pitch aims to bring young European talents into the spotlight, give them a high-end promotion opportunity, and develop short film coproduction in Europe. This initiative is about enhancing economic viability and European visibility for short film projects.

From the previous editions (2007-2017), around 240 projects were presented that have resulted so far in the making of 96 short films- many of them having a very successful international career.

Who can apply?

European Short Pitch is open to creative teams developing international short film projects. It is therefore open to writers, directors, and producers.

Writer-directors developing a project on their own are very welcome to participate in the programme. Yet it is strongly advised to already have nationally a production company interested or attached to the project, especially at the time of the coproduction forum (22rd-25th March 2018).

The author(s) of the script has to be between 18 and 35 years of age on the closing date of the call for projects (30thof September 2017).

His/her nationality or country of residence should be one of the member countries of the Creative Europe Programme (European Union + Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Iceland, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine). European Short Pitch will also select up to 3 projects from non-member countries of the Creative Europe Programme where NISI MASA has a member organisation: Kosovo and Russia.

Applicants must confirm their availability for the different sessions. The working language of European Short Pitch is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.
