I NEVER CRY now in production

LA MUJER ILEGAL by Ramon Térmens, producer: EAVE graduate Jan Macola is shooting in Catalonia. With this film, the filmmaker intends to mount a protest against the inhumane treatment of immigrants across the entirety of Spain, and even broaden his damning complaint to Europe itself, raising viewers’ awareness of this relentless steamrolling of freedom and basic rights through a social drama with added thriller elements. LA MUJER ILEGAL is a co-production between Spanish outfit Segarra Films, the Czech Republic’s Mimesis, and Televisió de Catalunya.

I NEVER CRY by Piotr Domalewski, producer: EAVE graduate Jan Kwiecinski is filming. Domalewski’s second feature revolves around 17-year-old Ola, who has to go to Ireland to bring back the body of her father, after he died on a construction site. But Ola also has another objective in mind – she plans to retrieve the money that her dad had promised her so that she could buy a car. While dealing with the local bureaucracy in Ireland, the young woman comes to realise that she is in fact more interested in getting to know who her father really was than anything else. I NEVER CRY is being produced by EAVE graduate Jan Kwieci?ski and co-produced by Ireland’s MK1 Productions. The project was presented at the Polish Days of the New Horizons International Film Festival, connecting cottbus and the Les Arcs Coproduction Village. It has received support from the Polish Film Institute, Screen Ireland, the Mazovia Warsaw Film Fund, the Warmia-Masuria Film Fund and Eurimages. Shooting on locations in Warsaw and Olsztyn in Poland, and Dublin in Ireland started in February and wraps in April.

B`EST project OTAR’S DEATH by Ioseb Bliadze, producer: EAVE graduate Eva Blondiau is in post-production.  The film tells the story of Keti and her son Nika, who find themselves in a difficult situation when Nika hits an old man in a car accident. The victim’s family promise to refrain from pressing charges against Nika if he compensates their loss in cash. Within a single day Keti has to raise a large amount of money to prevent her son Nika from being imprisoned. An unexpected turn gives the drama a tragicomical air. OTAR’S DEATH is produced by Eva Blondiau through Georgia’s MAISIS PERI in co-production with Color Of May from Germany, Studio Artizm from Georgia and M-Films from Lithuania. The film has received funding from the Georgian National Film Center, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the Lithuanian Film Centre. THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE by Dariusz Jablonski, producers: EAVE+ graduate Violetta Kaminska and EAVE graduate Izabela Wojcik is in post-production. The crime thriller series written by Maciej Maciejewski is the first international drama series originated, shot and made as a co-production between three Eastern European countries (Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine). The plot follows a crime investigation in three post-communist cities: Warsaw, Prague, Odessa, where – on the same day in autumn – parts of young females’ bodies are found. Police investigators from the Ukraine, Poland and the Czech Republic need to overcome their differences in order to partner in a cross-border inquiry. The trail leads to shady businessmen, lawyers for sale, corrupt politicians, professional killers and traces of the common past. Poland’s Apple Film produces in co-production with Canal+Poland, the Czech Television and Star Media Ukraine.
