EAVE project 98 SECONDS WITHOUT SHADOW by Juan Pablo Richter, producer: EAVE graduate Paola Gosalvez has started shooting. The film is produced by Pucara Films (Bolivia) and co-produced by DiaFragma (Colombia) and Cine-Sud Promotion (France). Geraldine Chaplin as one of the main roles.

Kowalski’s second feature is Poland’s first Slasher film and delves deep into the realm of fear, thrills and cruelty. The 23-day shoot wrapped in late October, and the movie is set for a March 2020 release.
www.aksonstudio.plNATURAL LIGHT by Denes Nagy, co-producer: EAVE graduate Viktoria Petranyi is in production. Written by Dénes Nagy after a Pal Zavada novel, the script is set in World War II.
The feature debut from the Hungarian filmmaker is produced by Campfilm with Mistrus Media, Lilith Films, Propellerfilm and Proton Cinema. The film benefits from the support of the Hungarian National Film Fund, the Hungarian Film Incentive, Eurimages, the CNC and the Institut Français (Aide aux Cinémas du Monde), ARTE/ZDF, the National Film Centre of Latvia, the Riga Film Fund, Creative Europe Media, and the TorinoFilmLab. The 28 days of filming will end on 15 December and will almost entirely take place in Latvia, except for two days in Budapest.
EAVE project OUR MEN now in post-production
KALA AZAR by Janis Rafa, producer: EAVE graduate Konstantinos Kontovrakis is in post-production. As a project, KALA AZAR was selected by De Verbeelding, an award for visual artists producing their first feature under the support of the Netherlands Film Fund and the Mondriaan Fund. The Dutch-Greek co-production staged by Dutch director-scriptwriter-producer Digna Sinke, of Amsterdam-based SNG Film, in co-production with EAVE graduates Konstantinos Kontovrakis and Giorgos Karnavas for Greek company Heretic. The film is being supported by the Netherlands Film Fund, the Mondriaan Fund, the Greek Film Centre, ERT SA, the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (AFK) and the Abraham Tuschinski Fonds, and won the Feature Expanded Distribution Award in the Feature Expanded programme, organised by HOME and Lo Schermo dell’arte.
www.heretic.grEAVE project OUR MEN (MON LÉGIONNAIRE) by Rachel Lang, producers: EAVE graduates Jérémy Forni and Benoît Roland has recently wrapped shooting in France and Morocco. Bac Films has taken international sales and French distribution rights to the film, starring Louis Garrel as a unit leader of the French Foreign Legion. The director said her film explores relationships strained by the absence, the solitude and death, while paying homage to people in the French Foreign Legion who have fought to keep relationships to their loved ones alive. OUR MEN shows the lives of families who are being put to test by the war against terrorism in Sahel. OUR MEN is produced by Jérémy Forni for the French outfit Chevaldeuxtrois and Benoît Roland for the Belgian company Wrong Men.
EURIMAGES Co-Production Award for EAVE group leader Ankica Juric Tilic
Eurimages Co-Production Award
This year’s Eurimages Co-Production Award goes to EAVE graduate, Group Leader and Croatian National Coordinator Ankica Juric Tilic.
Ankica has more than 25 years of experience in film. She founded her production company Kinorama in 2003 together with two partners. Her filmography includes 30 feature films, several TV series and many shorts. Her latest, most successful features are the Eurimages-supported films QUIT STARING AT MY PLATE and THE HIGH SUN. Ankica Juric Tilic is a member of ACE Producers and the European Film Academy. She teaches at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and participates as a mentor, panellist, lecturer or advisor at many international film industry events.
This year’s Eurimages Co-Production Award, an award acknowledging the decisive role of co-productions in fostering international exchange, pays tribute to a woman’s contribution to the success of film co-production. The award will be presented during the European Film Awards ceremony in Berlin on December 7.

Ties That Bind heads to Singapore for the 5th time
with NZ Partnership and an expanded Project Market
For the Fifth year in a row, TIES THAT BIND (TTB)’s second workshop returns to Singapore. TTB is a workshop programme connecting professionals from Asia and Europe. It combines producer training, project development and co-production meetings, and focuses on co-operation between European producers and their Asian counterparts.
For the first time we are organising in parallel to TTB and in partnership with the New Zealand Film Commission and SAAVA a TIES THAT BIND ON DEMAND workshop for 7 selected producers from New Zealand. They will work on developing their projects under the guidance of the two TTB group leaders, Fran Borgia (Akanga Film Asia, SG) and Jonas Weydemann (Weydemann Bros., DE). They will also network with the TTB participants in joint plenary sessions and networking events, and explore and foster opportunities for Europe-Asia-New Zealand co-production and other collaboration.
The TTB participants will meet in Singapore from December 2 – 6, 2019, and will continue to develop and package their projects under the guidance of TTB Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher (Ici et Là Productions, FR), script consultants Clare Downs (UK) and Alex Jia (Beijing WD Pictures, CN), and group leaders Fran Borgia and Jonas Weydemann.
The TTB guest experts will include Nicolas Brigaud-Robert (Playtime, FR), Jean-Baptiste Babin (Backup Media Group, FR), Bianca Balbuena (Epicmedia Productions, PH) and Olivier Père (Arte France Cinéma, FR).
TTB graduates Bianca Balbuena (Epicmedia Productions, PH), Jeremy Chua (Potocol, SG) and Boštjan Virc (Studio Virc, SI) will give a case study on 6 countries co-production of the TTB film MOTEL ACACIA by Bradley Liew. MOTEL ACACIA premiered at the Asian Future Competition @ Tokyo IFF. Picture Tree International is handling international sales.
Thanks to the partnership with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA) and with support from Asia TV Forum & Market, the second workshop of TTB 2019 will be held during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Project Market, where the selected TTB projects will be presented together with 15 other selected projects from Southeast Asia to leading decision makers from Asia and Europe. This year’s SAFF Project Market has surpassed the previous mark by establishing SGD100,000 worth of prizes and awards up for grabs for its selected projects from top companies in the region: 108 Media, Salt Media, ACE Pictures, Supernova & KL Post, AV8 and RED Digital Cinema.

PUENTES 2019 culminates in Uruguay
PUENTES Europe/Latin America Co-Production Workshop heads to Uruguay for the second and final workshop of this year’s edition (November 26 – December 2). The 15 selected participants (complete list below) will continue to work on each other’s projects under the guidance of the two group leaders Jean des Forêts (Petit Film, FR) and Agustina Chiarino (Mutante Cine, UY). The experts will include script consultant Jacques Akchoti (FR), sales agent Carole Baraton (Charades FR), management consultant Georgina Miranda (NL) and Cannes Critic’s Week’s Charles Tesson (FR) will give a session entitled festival insights. Aside from the plenary sessions, daily group work sessions will be the core of PUENTES.
In parallel to the workshop, selected Uruguayan producers will attend tailor-made PUENTES Uruguay sessions and have the opportunity to network with the PUENTES participants during the common plenary and networking events. Experts include Juan Antonio Vigar, director of the Málaga Festival and of the Málaga Film Office (ES), Costanza Arena, Executive Director of CinemaChile (CL) and Fernando Epstein (Mutante Cine, UY). Thanks to a special cooperation with Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, all PUENTES & PUENTES Uruguay participants will be able to attend VENTANA SUR (Dec 2-6) in Buenos Aires after the workshop.

EAVE ON DEMAND RIO GRANDE DO SUL will consist of 3 days of masterclasses and group work sessions, as well as individual meetings for 6 producers and their writers with their projects in development as well as 6 producers participating without a project, but taking an active role in the group.
EAVE ON DEMAND RIO GRANDE DO SUL will combine the long experience that EAVE has in international training and networking with a tailor-made approach for producers from Rio Grande do Sul / Brazil, taking into account their specific needs.
The objective is to improve the participants’ skills in international coproduction, film finance and management, marketing, packaging, festival and sales strategies as well as script development, allowing them to take the next step in their careers and businesses.
The workshops will consist of group work for the selected projects in development, and the selected participants without a project, as well as master-classes for a wider audience.

The TTB participants will meet in Singapore from December 2 – 6, 2019, and will continue to develop and package their projects under the guidance of TTB Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher (Ici et Là Productions, FR), script consultants Clare Downs (UK) and Alex Jia (Beijing WD Pictures, CN), and group leaders Fran Borgia and Jonas Weydemann.
The TTB guest experts will include Nicolas Brigaud-Robert (Playtime, FR), Jean-Baptiste Babin (Backup Media Group, FR), Bianca Balbuena (Epicmedia Productions, PH) and Olivier Père (Arte France Cinéma, FR).
TTB graduates Bianca Balbuena (Epicmedia Productions, PH), Jeremy Chua (Potocol, SG) and Boštjan Virc (Studio Virc, SI) will give a case study on 6 countries co-production of the TTB film MOTEL ACACIA by Bradley Liew. MOTEL ACACIA premiered at the Asian Future Competition @ Tokyo IFF. Picture Tree International is handling international sales.
Thanks to the partnership with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA) and with support from Asia TV Forum & Market, the second workshop of TTB 2019 will be held during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Project Market, where the selected TTB projects will be presented together with 15 other selected projects from Southeast Asia to leading decision makers from Asia and Europe. This year’s SAFF Project Market has surpassed the previous mark by establishing SGD100,000 worth of prizes and awards up for grabs for its selected projects from top companies in the region: 108 Media, Salt Media, ACE Pictures, Supernova & KL Post, AV8 and RED Digital Cinema.

The new format SAFF Plenary will feature a panel session on legal, financial, insurance, technical, and distribution aspects of co-production by Jean-Baptiste Babin, Ronald Loke, Himanshu Shah and Abhi Rastogi, moderated by Yi-Ling Teo. During the Industry Circles, key industry players such as Netflix and Hooq will share their experience in international sales and distribution in various Asian territories.

PUENTES 2019 culminates in Uruguay
PUENTES Europe/Latin America Co-Production Workshop heads to Uruguay for the second and final workshop of this year’s edition (November 26 – December 2). The 15 selected participants (complete list below) will continue to work on each other’s projects under the guidance of the two group leaders Jean des Forêts (Petit Film, FR) and Agustina Chiarino (Mutante Cine, UY). The experts will include script consultant Jacques Akchoti (FR), sales agent Carole Baraton (Charades FR), management consultant Georgina Miranda (NL) and Cannes Critic’s Week’s Charles Tesson (FR) will give a session entitled festival insights. Aside from the plenary sessions, daily group work sessions will be the core of PUENTES.
In parallel to the workshop, selected Uruguayan producers will attend tailor-made PUENTES Uruguay sessions and have the opportunity to network with the PUENTES participants during the common plenary and networking events. Experts include Juan Antonio Vigar, director of the Málaga Festival and of the Málaga Film Office (ES), Costanza Arena, Executive Director of CinemaChile (CL) and Fernando Epstein (Mutante Cine, UY). Thanks to a special cooperation with Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, all PUENTES & PUENTES Uruguay participants will be able to attend VENTANA SUR (Dec 2-6) in Buenos Aires after the workshop.
Proyecta, an initiative organized by Ventana Sur and the San Sebastian Film Festival, will host the presentation of 16 film projects in search of co-production between Latin America and Europe. Among them PUENTES project “STREETS OF GLORIA” which will be presented by Brazilian producer Daniel Van Hoogstraten in a pitching session to professionals from the international film industry.

- THE SHARKS (LOS TIBURONES), directed by Lucia Garibaldi & produced by Pancho Magnou (Montelona Cine, Uruguay) has won Best Director at Sundance 2019 - World Cinema Dramatic Competition, Grand Prix Coup de Cœur at Cinélatino – Rencontres de Toulouse.
- MATERNAL (HOGAR), directed by Maura Delpero & produced by Alessandro Amato (Disparte, Italy) has won Ecumenic Jury Award and Second Prize of the Youth Jury in Locarno IFF 2019, Audience Award at Annecy Cinéma Italien, Special Mention of the Jury at Reykjavík International Film Festival 2019, Special Mention for Best Feature Film (Section Competencia Argentina) and FIPRESCI Prize for the Best Argentine Film at Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata.
- THE HEIRESSES (LAS HEREDERAS), directed by Marcelo Martinessi & produced by Sebastian Peña Escobar (La Babosa Cine, Paraguay) & developed by PUENTES participant Karen Fraenkel (Mira, Paraguay) has won Best Actress & Best Opera Prima for Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano 2019
- DEATH WILL COME AND WILL HAVE YOUR EYES (VENDRÁ LA MUERTE Y TENDRÁ TUS OJOS), directed by José Luis Torres Leiva & produced by Catalina Vergara (Globo Rojo Producciones, Chile) world premiered at San Sebastian IFF in the official competition.
