The Nordisk Film & TV Fond has selected seven new Nordic feature projects out of 83 applications for its second package of the Nordic Genre Boost 2016: each production will receive development support and access to two residential workshops with tutoring in script development, marketing and sales. Among them are:

The project is supported by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), the Creative Europe - MEDIA programme of the EU, Telenet STAP, VMMA, and BeTV.
- GREEK MINDS AT WORK, produced and directed by EAVE graduate Stavros Papageorgiou is in development. The first creative space technology documentary ever produced in Cyprus will follow the work of a number of university students and scientists from Greece and Cyprus who will team-up with Dr. Periklis Papadopoulos to implement a challenging space project by 2018 where a network of 6 to 12 cube satellites will be placed in orbit to perform scientific tasks. Tetrakyts Films is currently looking for co-producers. Production is planned to start in 2017 and release is planned for 2018.

The Slovak Audiovisual Fund and the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme support the project.
- DEDE by Mariam Khatchvani, producer: EAVE graduate Vladimer Katchavara is in production. The script follows a young woman, Dina, who lives in the harsh mountain region of Svaneti. FEW DAYS LEFT TO WATCH: EAVE Session on The Disorderly Digital Marketplace
In the framework of its collaboration with When East Meets West, EAVE has organized a special LIVE STREAM SESSION: The Disorderly Digital Marketplace which has been live streamed on the EAVE and Cineuropa websites on January 26.
Have you missed the streaming? The session will be available for another 30 DAYS on the EAVE website. Catch up now and until March 4th!
EAVE consultants Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks Italia) and Muriel Joly (Under The Milky Way, France) share their insights on the current state of internet distribution: how it is functioning both legally and economically, the current state of web television, VoD and sVoD markets, and branded entertainment. Their dialogue about future digital challenges focuses on those facing an individual producer with a new film about to enter the market and, more generally, the effects of digital distribution on industry business models.
The discussion also covers the EU's Digital Single Market initiative and its potential impact on the industry's "orderly marketplace" as well as some of Creative Europe's more experimental projects like Walk This Way's day and date multi-territory releases.
The session will be available for free for a limited time only!

Multiple Revenue Stream Training for Future Films
Call for applications: Multiple Revenue Stream Training for Future Films (MRST4FF)
Application deadline: March 18, 2016
The European Women's Audiovisual Network is pleased to announce a call for applications from European audiovisual professionals to participate in the second edition of its innovative Multiple Revenue Stream Training Course For Future Films.
The key objective of MRST4FF is to equip European audiovisual professionals with the necessary skills to reach a wide international audience in the context of digital convergence, through an innovative training course designed with experts in online marketing & distribution and new business models for the film industry.
Background
Promoting and protecting cultural diversity of audiovisual content is one of the goals of EWA. The Network and its members strive to attain greater gender equality in the audiovisual sector for creative roles (producer, director and scriptwriter) and technical crew and to encourage greater reflection on representations of gender identity in audiovisual content. In order to ensure that cultural diversity of content is safeguarded and promoted it is vital that European producers and content creators assimilate a wider range of new business models, marketing skills, branding and crowd-funding knowledge and online distribution skillsets.
The course “Multiple Revenue Stream Training For Future Films” will encourage producers and content creators to use new technologies and ensure their projects have diverse content. This will in turn help ensure their projects remain competitive in a digital context, which can see more users turning to VOD platforms.
The Course
During the course participants will attend two workshops:
- Workshop one – Pisa, Italy (29 June – 3 July 2016)
- Workshop two – Strasbourg, France (23-27 November 2016)
The training course will accompany producers/content creators with a project and with a desire to exploit new technologies in an innovative and up-to-date manner, through training in social marketing, strategizing, branding and crowd-funding for their projects (Workshop 1), specifically relevant negotiation and pitching in order to acquire the skillsets necessary to secure product placement and other deals which can later feed into the multiple revenue streams, e.g. online distribution of the film and devising strategies for multiple media distribution of their projects (smartphones, VOD, traditional theatrical release, etc.), securing contracts for digital distribution and follow-on marketing support and credible business plans for multiple revenue stream income from projects (Workshop 2).
Trainers & Tutors
The training sessions and online tutoring will be conducted by renowned professionals.Read more information on the first edition of MRST4FF here:

Apply now to participate in SOFA – School of Film Agents
The deadline is 5 May 2016
The workshop initiative will take place in the European Cultural Capital city of Wroclaw, Poland, from 19-28 August 2016
SOFA – School of Film Agents is a workshop initiative that was brought to life by Nikolaj Nikitin. Founded in 2013, the unique workshop offers young “film agents” from Central and Eastern Europe, Germany and Central Asia the opportunity to work together with experts on their projects aimed at the development of their respective regional film cultures and industries.
In addition to this call for submissions, SOFA is pleased to announce an exciting, new opportunity for former workshop participants from Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to the generous support of the Goethe-Institut, SOFA-Alumni are invited to come to Germany for one month to participate in a creative fellowship as well as to take part in a German language course. By placing former participants in creative fellowships within German film, cultural and media institutions that purposefully reflect the ideas and goals of SOFA-Alumnis’ dream projects, the Goethe-Institut is not only making it possible for these participants to come closer to realising their projects, but to also acquiring invaluable practical, international experiences in their field via cultural exchange. After the overwhelming response to last year’s “Call for Submissions” – with over 100 applications from 25 countries – SOFA is now accepting new applications for 2016 until 6 May 2016.
Applications for 2016 should contain the following information:
• A maximum two-page project description: what is the idea and motivation behind your project? Where exactly will this project take place/be realised? A particular place/location? Tell us about your goals, project objectives, your vision and what makes your project so unique. Tell us exactly why YOU are the right person to make this project come to life.
• One page with information about a prospective budget for the project. Your budget does not need to be calculated down to the very last cent. Rather, please try to communicate an overall estimation of the potential costs involved in the realisation of your project as well as ideas about possible types of funding/potential financial resources for the project.
• A professional biography with background information about how you came to be active in the film industry. Please send your application via email to: nikolaj@joinsofa.org As in previous years, this year’s selected SOFA participants along with workshop experts and lecturers will be announced during the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
Great news for this year’s SOFA workshop participants! For the second year in a row, the Goethe-Insitut is offering some extra “added value” to the already well-established SOFA programme: some of SOFA’s former participants will be able to take part in a creative stipendium in a German company of their choice. This opportunity will offer participants the chance to improve and develop the quality of their projects as well as to strengthen their own personal and professional goals.
Applications for SOFA 2016 may be submitted immediately. The deadline is 5 May 2016.
SOFA – School of Film Agents is a joint project of the Filmplus gUG (Cologne) and the Fundacja Filmplus (Warsaw) together with the city of Wroclaw (Breslau) and the Polish Film Institute, funded by the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the German (Federal Foreign Office, the International Visegrad Fund, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the New Horizons Association, the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, EAVE – European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, the Slovak Film Institute, Mozinet, the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary and supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut in Poland (Krakow), Serbia, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Moscow and its Head Office in Munich, Germany, as well as the support of the Film Commission Poland and the Wroclaw Film Commission.

WATCH IT NOW: EAVE Session on The Disorderly Digital Marketplace – available until March 4
In the framework of its collaboration with When East Meets West, EAVE has organized a special LIVE STREAM SESSION: The Disorderly Digital Marketplace which has been live streamed on the EAVE (www.eave.org) and Cineuropa websites (www.cineuropa.org) on January 26.
Watch it NOW on: www.eave.org.
