Eurimages has distributed 5.36 million Euros to 17 European co-productions. Among them are ten projects by EAVE graduates:

- DOGS by Bogdan Mirica, producer: EAVE graduate Marcela Ursu is in pre-production. The story centres on Roman, a young man from the city who goes to an isolated village in the county of Dobrogea, near the Romanian-Ukrainian border, where he wants to sell the land he has inherited from his recently deceased grandfather. Roman will find out that his grandfather was a powerful gangster and that the land he now wants to sell is used by criminals for their seedy transactions. Roman will soon come to learn that his intentions for the land have turned him into a target. The project was awarded Prix ARTE at Cinelink- Sarajevo IFF in August 2013, and it was selected to l’Atelier de la Cinéfondation, Cannes 2014, to Script&Pitch at Torino Film Lab 2013 and also at the Coproduction Village in Les Arcs 2013. DOGS has received support from Eurimages. Shooting is scheduled for Augusta
- THE MIGRUMPIES by Arman T. Riahi, producers EAVE graduate Arash T. Riahi and Karin C. Berger have successfully financed the project development and will now proceed to the next phase. For a documentary show about a socially disadvantaged neighbourhood, the two well off friends Marko and Fadi pretend to be petty criminals with immigrant background - before the coin flips and reality turns against them. The comedy is supported by Filmfonds Wien and Österreichisches Filminstitut.
Nordisk Film & TV Fond announced the feature projects selected for its new NORDIC GENRE BOOST initiative. The seven projects selected will receive a development grant of NOK 200.000 each, as well as access to two intensive residential workshops. Two of them are produced by EAVE graduates:

6 new projects will be financed by the South Tyrol BLS - Film Fund & Commission as part of the first call in 2015. Among them are:

- SAY SOMETHING FUNNY by Nic Balthazar, producer: EAVE graduate Peter Bouckaert
- HIER by Balint Kenyeres, co-producer: EAVE graduate Andrea Taschler is in pre-production. The plot: some very costly problems draw businessman Otto Ganz to North Africa where he is confronted with memories of his youth, which have been carefully buried in the depths of his mind. Support comes from: Film i Väst, CNC, MEDIA Programme, Netherlands Film Fund, Arte Germany and Saarländischer Rundfunk. Shooting on locations in Morocco is set to start in Spring 2015.
- DEDE by Mariam Khatchvani, producer: EAVE graduate Vladimer Katchavara is in pre-production. The story follows a young woman, Dina, who lives in the harsh mountain region of Svaneti. Her happiness is brief because her lover dies and she must obey tradition by marrying the first man who offers her his hand.Vladimer Katcharava is producing through Georgia's 20 Steps Productions in coproduction with France's Neon Productions, Norway's 4 ½ Film AS and Poland's Opus Film. The project is supported by the Georgian National Film Centre and Doha Film Institute. Shooting is planned to start in September 2015.
EAVE project NOTHING DOING IN BAGHDAD to start production
- WHAT’S WRONG WITH A FREE LUNCH? by Christian Tod, producer: EAVE graduate Arash T. Riahi is in production. The documentary deals with the notion of an unconditional basic income, which divides philosophers, economists, politicians and citizens likewise. Why should a community grant benefits without demanding service in return? Would people still work if they could make a living from their basic income alone? The film is supported by Österreichisches Filminstitut, ARTE, ORF Film/Fernseh-Abkommen, Film und Medienstiftung NRW, Filmstandort Österreich, Filmfonds Wien.
- EAVE project NOTHING DOING IN BAGHDAD by Maysoon Pachachi, produced by EAVE graduate Talal Al-Muhanna is set to start shooting after securing three European co-producers, among them EAVE graduate Juan Pablo Libossar and EAVE graduate Patrice Nezan. The film received funding from Brot für die Welt, Visions Sud Est and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC).
- BANAT by Adriano Valerio, producer: EAVE graduate and Romanian National Coordinator Ada Solomon is shooting. The international co-production with the participation of Bulgaria, Romania and Macedonia, tells the story of reverse emigration: from Italy to Romania, in search of work and happiness. The movie was made with the support of Mibact's Cinema DG, the Media programme for development and backed by the Apulia Film Commission. Filming will last for five weeks and will take place between Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Apulia.
THE FIXER in post-production
- NOW I’M GONNA LOVE YOU by Roman Shirman, producer: EAVE graduate Olena Fetisova wrapped shooting. The Ukrainian-Georgian co-production will start editing soon.
- UNCANNY VALLEY by Paul Wenninger, producers: EAVE participant Laurent Csinidis and EAVE graduate Gabriele Kranzelbinder is in post-production. The animation short is supported by CNC and the Région PACA.

- THE FIXER by Adrian Sitaru, producers: EAVE graduate Anamaria Antoci and EAVE graduate and French National Coordinator Jean des Forêts ended shooting. The feature inspired by true events involving the idea of personal ascent versus loss of innocence. The script, written by Claudia and Adrian Sili?teanu follows a young journalist eager to work for international press, who goes to Transylvania together with a French TV crew led by a famous journalist, to deal with the case of a young prostitute repatriated from France. The €800,000 project is produced by 4 Proof Film in co-production with Petit Film. Post-production is expected to end in autumn, with a domestic release set for next year.
GAME GIRLS now crowd-funding
GAME GIRLS by Alina Skrzeszewska, producer: EAVE participant Laurent Csinidis is looking for support on Indiegogo. The documentary sheds light on the unseen and unheard stories and forgotten dreams of women surviving on the extreme fringes of contemporary American society. The film is set in Los Angeles' Skid Row, best known as "the homeless capital of the U.S.A.", where a diverse community of people share one of American’s realities: poverty.
Film director Alina Skrzeszewska has about a decade of experience in the neighborhood, having lived and filmed there before.
“We are proud and excited to launch an Indiegogo campaign, to get you involved with us in a compelling human journey. Thanks to your contribution, we will be able to complete the workshops and begin shooting the film. $20,000 is the minimum amount needed. This last phase is all about finding our main characters and finishing to script the film. The film is supported by the European Commission, the French CNC and Berlinale Talents.

The film won the Grand Prix, the Award for Best Bulgarian Feature Film, the Audience Award and the FIPRESCI Award.

- HIP HOP HIJABIS by Mette Reitzel, producer: EAVE documentary expert Sylvia Stevens was shown on March 5 on Al Jazeera, in celebration of the International Women's Day on March 8. The musical road movie follows two best friends and Muslim converts, Sukina and Muneera of the Hip Hop duo ‘Poetic Pilgrimage’, on their quest to spiritually reconcile their new faith with their feminist sensibilities and Jamaican roots. As they tour the UK and Morocco the varied reception to their performances provides a candid, and perhaps surprising, snapshot of contemporary Islam, where some believe music and female performance is forbidden while others share their passion.
- EVERYDAY REBELLION by Arash T. Riahi was shown on ARTE on March 3. The film was released on DVD and can be seen on iTUNES & FLIMMIT.

The 2015 edition of the EAVE Producers Workshop kicked off in Luxembourg
As every year, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is the home base for the first session of the EAVE Producers Workshop, organized in partnership with the Film Fund Luxembourg during March 9 – 16. Out of some 170 applications from 45 countries, 52 up-and-coming producers from 31 countries were selected with 33 documentary and feature projects to be developed throughout the year.
Workshop 1’s pedagogical team was composed of EAVE Head of Studies Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film, LU), the four group leaders (all active, experienced producers), Roshanak Behesht Nedjad (Flying Moon, DE), Lise Lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films, DK),Riina Sildos (Amrion, EE) and Patrick Sobelman (Agat Films & Cie / Ex Nihilo, FR); the script consultants Clare Downs (UK), Jacques Akchoti (FR), Martin Daniel (USA), and documentary expert Sylvia Stevens (Faction Films, UK). They were joined by the EAVE specialized experts - for Pitching: Sibylle Kurz (DE), Finance and Company Planning: Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks, IT) and Legal Issues: Katrine Schlüter Schierbeck (Johan Schlüter law firm, DK), who shared their expertise in plenary and group work sessions and individual meetings with the EAVE participants.

EAVE on Demand Film Fund Luxembourg
EAVE organised an EAVE ON DEMAND session in co-operation with Film Fund Luxembourg from March 17-18 in Clervaux, Luxembourg, for the fund`s selection committee, project managers, management team and board members.
During the 2-day tailor-made forum, the participating delegates and experts were working together on script assessment and development, European film finance, legal issues of development and co-production, marketing and distribution strategies.
EAVE experts Clare Downs (Script Consultant, UK), Pierre-Emmanuel Mouthuy (Mouthuy Avocats, Belgium), Álvaro Vega (Doblesentido, Spain), Pierre-Emmanuel Mouthuy (Mouthuy Avocats, Belgium) and Jean-Baptiste Babin (Backup Film, France) have shared their experiences during the 2 day think tank.

CALL FOR THE SECOND EDITION OF PARIS COPRODUCTION VILLAGE

PARIS COPRODUCTION VILLAGE is a development and financing platform organized by Les Arcs European Film Festival and hosted by the Champs-Elysées Film Festival. The event aims at encouraging European professionals to get involved in international coproductions. During this three-day event, 15 international film projects destined for French or European coproduction will be presented to producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers and fund representatives. In addition, the 6 residents of the Cannes Film Festival Cinéfondation will join the project selection. Participants will benefit from one-to-one pre-scheduled meetings, networking events, as well as seminars taught by leading film industry professionals. During the first edition of Paris Coproduction Village, 550 meetings were organized, while participants from 150 companies (sales agents, distributors and producers) attended the event.
This platform complements the 4th edition of the Champs-Elysées Film Festival's US-IN-PROGRESS programme, which screens 4 US feature films in late stage of post-production seeking sales representatives. Paris Coproduction Village is supported by the Ile-de-France region and organized in collaboration with our partners Champs-Elysées Film Festival, Cannes - Cinéfondation, Producers’ Network, ACE, EAVE, Europa International, HAF and CPH:LAB.
Brazil will be the guest country of this second edition! In partnership with Cinema do Brasil, Paris Coproduction Village will invite at least 3 Brazilian projects in development and will offer a conference dedicated to the Brazilian film industry.

Registration open for the 4th edition of EMERGING PRODUCERS

EMERGING PRODUCERS is a promotional and educational project which brings together talented documentary film producers from EU countries.
The aim of the project is to introduce an up-and-coming generation of talented European producers to professionals from various fields of the film industry. The project creates a new platform for meetings of film professionals with an emphasis on documentary cinematography. By providing a diverse and creative environment for Emerging Producers as well as an orientation of the film market we hope to increase the potential for the future European co-productions.
The project is organised and curated by Jihlava IDFF and is implemented in cooperation with national MEDIA DESKS. The selection of producers will be announced during the summer 2015.
Selection Criteria
Producer with a several years’ practice on the local market (i.e. not a student or recent graduate) with a capacity for future professional growth and with ambitions to be active on the European market.
At least one realized film (fiction or documentary, mid-length or feature) which has entered theatrical distribution, has been screened at a festival etc.Previous participations at other workshops is considered an advantage.

Project Evaluation & Market Placement Labs - Call for applications now open!

Objectives & Benefits
The Labs’ programme will select 5 European and 5 Chinese film projects suitable for co-production or clearly showing a link for a collaboration between China and Europe. One Chinese project will be chosen among a pre-selection submitted by FIRST Film Festival as a new Chinese talent discovery.
Specialised tutors and active professionals in the European and Chinese film industries will coach each duo of participants (director/producer or writer/producer) on the development of their project by:
- Defining the core target audience of the project;
- Addressing the weak aspects of story structure and providing concrete tools to improve story telling for the targeted foreign country & audience;
- Introducing the specific differences in terms of culture, tastes, film industry and market between European countries & mainland China;
- Strengthening the project’s potential on the International market with a special focus on the main targeted country/region;
- Identifying the unique selling points of the project & enhancing their pitching ability to a foreign professional audience;
- Checking the co-production feasibility, cooperation/funding opportunities & defining an international strategy;
- Empowering a network of relationships among professionals eager to develop co-operations between China & Europe and matching with participants’ profiles.
Participant Target & Project Status
Creative teams of director & producer OR writer & producer from Europe and China, working on the development of fiction feature film projects (animation included but no documentaries). The team shall submit a treatment (maximum 15 pages) with full development of story structure, characters and locations.
Programme Structure & Language
Each of the two Labs will have a similar structure consisting of 2 parts:
- Projectwork (evaluation & advice/guidance on the creative and business aspects)
- Market immersion (after a market overview in the firstdays, participants will then be introduced to the reality of the hosting film industry & market place by attending a specific professional gathering and networking with locals; i.e. the Chinese market in Shanghai and the European one in Locarno)

Labs will alternate plenary lectures and discussions, case study presentations with group work, one-to- one meetings and possibly a final pitching session. The approach is designed as very practical and based on experience sharing, so an active participation of each team is expected. The successful EAVE partnership with Galway Film Fair continues!
Up to 6 EAVE producers from outside of Ireland and UK will be selected for the Galway Film Fair 2015. Priority will be given to low production capacity countries (European countries other than France, Germany, Italy, Spain).
Our partner will cover the cost of accommodation for 3 nights each and waive the entry fee for the Marketplace and Galway Film Fair.
The projects can be in development or completed documentaries or fiction.

MARKETPLACE GALWAY FILM FAIR 9th-11th JULY 2015
A unique opportunity to meet with the world’s leading financiers in an intimate and informal atmosphere, allowing new talent to be discovered and long term partnerships to be made.
The Marketplace at the Galway Film Fair takes place during the Galway Film Fleadh (festival) 7th-23th July 2015 and co-ordinates pre-scheduled meetings between filmmakers with projects in development and/or completed films and invited Film Financiers, Distributors, Sales Agents, Broadcasters, Film Funds and Major Producers.

OPEN DOORS 2015: FOCUS ON MAGHREB
Dear EAVE producers,
EAVE is delighted to continue its successful partnership with OPEN DOORS taking place from August 8-11, 2015 during the Locarno Film Festival (August 5-15, 2015). At the same time, the successful Locarno Industry Days will be organized again.
EAVE producers (with special priority to producers interested in coproducing with the Maghreb region) have the unique possibility to participate in OPEN DOORS in order to meet the selected filmmakers and producers and to come and discover the Locarno film festival. The selected producers will be invited by the festival providing accreditation & accommodation during the event (2-4 nights).
In 2015 the OPEN DOORS section will focus on four countries from the Maghreb: Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.
A dozen projects will be selected and the directors and producers of the chosen projects will be present in Locarno and available for pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings.
The selection will be announced in Cannes and the project information will be available online in a protected area of the Locarno Film Festival's website www.pardo.ch.

EAVE Workshop and Administrative Assistant Vacancy
EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) is a professional training, project development and networking organization funded by the Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-programme of the European Union and the Film Fund Luxembourg. We run training programmes for audiovisual producers mainly in Europe, but also in other parts of the world.
EAVE is looking for a Workshop & Administrative Assistant for our team in Luxembourg.
The primary tasks and responsibilities will include:
Daily office administration
Travel & hotel organisation
Assisting the EAVE workshop manager in the organization mainly of the EAVE Producers Workshop, EAVE Plus and EAVE Marketing Workshop, as well as other EAVE events and workshops. This includes:
- Travel & hotel organization for team, experts and decision makers
- General workshop logistics
- Workshop catalogues & infobooks
- Follow-up of participants, experts and decision makers
Organisation of EAVE pedagogical and team meetings, festival accreditations and smaller EAVE workshops (EAVE ON DEMAND)
Administration of the EAVE database (Filemaker)
Assisting the EAVE Administrator with funding applications and reports and other tasks (EAVE PR, social media appearance)
The Workshop & Administrative Assistant will work closely with the EAVE Chief Executive, EAVE Workshop Manager and EAVE Administrator as well as supporting other members of the EAVE team as required.
The Workshop and Administrative Assistant will be present at the EAVE Producers Workshop (consisting of three 7-day-events taking place in Luxembourg and 2 other European cities every year), EAVE Plus and EAVE Marketing Workshop (two 4-day-events taking place in Luxembourg).
Preferable skills required:
Motivation to work in the European film and television industry and with partners and participants from all over Europe
Very good communication, social and organisational skills
Flexibility, dynamism, motivation
Capacity to work in a team
Ability to take responsibility and to carry out tasks independently
Fluent English and preferably one or more other European languages
Computer skills (MS-Office, Filemaker)
Working conditions:
The Job is based in Luxembourg in full-time (40 working hours / week), ideally starting from October 12, 2015. Fixed term contract (1 year with the possibility of extension) according to Luxembourg work law (trial period: 3 months). Working language: English

EAVE is delighted to continue for the fifth year the successful partnership with La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde in Cannes. 10 talented filmmakers from emerging countries and their projects in development have been selected.
EAVE organizes a special networking event at La Fabrique during Cannes Film Festival: introduction followed by one-on-one meetings. 10 selected EAVE producers will be invited to meet the international delegation of project representatives from emerging countries outside Europe.
The date of the event is Monday, May 18, 2015 (afternoon).

Spotlight on recent EAVE films on FESTIVAL SCOPE
EAVE has not only become an internationally recognised brand among the existing training initiatives and networks in Europe, but is also playing a major role in fostering co-production and strengthening the European audiovisual sector.
Many projects developed through EAVE's flagship programme, the EAVE Producers Workshop, as well as our international programmes, TIES THAT BIND, PUENTES and B'EST, have been successfully produced, critically acclaimed and distributed internationally.
The newly forged co-operation with FESTIVAL SCOPE will promote hand-picked, recently finalised films developed through EAVE. This will give more visibility to the finished films that have gone through the EAVE programmes and enhance their circulation.

The 2015 edition of the EAVE Producers Workshop takes off in Luxembourg
As every year, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is the home base for the first session of the EAVE Producers Workshop, organized in partnership with the Film Fund Luxembourg during March 9 – 16 at the Légère Premium Hotel Luxembourg. Out of some 170 applications from 45 countries, we selected 52 up-and-coming producers from 31 countries with 33 documentary and feature projects to be developed throughout the year.
Workshop 1’s pedagogical team is composed of EAVE Head of Studies Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film, LU), the four group leaders (all active, experienced producers), Roshanak Behesht Nedjad (Flying Moon, DE), Lise Lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films, DK), Riina Sildos (Amrion, EE) and Patrick Sobelman (Agat Films & Cie / Ex Nihilo, FR); the script consultants Clare Downs (UK), Jacques Akchoti (FR), Martin Daniel (USA), and documentary expert Sylvia Stevens (Faction Films, UK). They are joined by the EAVE specialized experts - for Pitching: Sibylle Kurz (DE), Finance and Company Planning: Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks, IT) and Legal Issues: Katrine Schlüter Schierbeck (Johan Schlüter law firm, DK), who share their expertise in plenary and group work sessions and individual meetings with the EAVE participants.
Special sessions complement the workshop schedule:
Oscar® winner IDA by Pawel Pawlikowski will be the focus of EAVE script consultant Clare Downs’ script analysis.
Guest expert Paul Tyler (Handling Ideas, DK) will show the participants how to transform an idea into a concept using a simple toolbox that allows filmmakers to develop stories and formats.
In special group sessions, guest expert and EAVE graduate David Grumbach (BAC Films, FR) will analyse the selected projects to explore tools and opportunities for co-production.
Danish producer and EAVE group leader Lise Lense-Møller will devote her plenary session to the specific questions related to the development of documentaries.
There will also be time to network with local professionals and to explore co-production opportunities with Luxembourg during a visit to the Filmland Studios where the participants have the chance to meet representatives of the local film industry.
