The Turkey-Germany Co-Production Development Fund supports two projects by EAVE graduates:

Among the funded films in the first 2013 round of the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM) are:

- LOS ANGELES – DIE ENGEL by Damian John, producer: EAVE graduate Jonas Weydemann
The German-French Funding Commission is spending about 1 M Euro for four co-productions. Among them is:
- THE TRIAL by Ronit & Shlomi Elkabetz, producer: EAVE 2008 graduate Dirk Decker
The Croatian Audiovisual Centre granted €2.16m to 12 feature films, three of them are produced by Kinorama of EAVE 2007 graduate Ankica Juric Tilic: HIGH SUN by Dalibor Matanic, LOVE OR DEATH by Daniel Kušan and INFERNO by Vinko Möderndorfer

- FUORI MIRA by Erik Bernasconi, producer: EAVE 1991 graduate Andres Pfaeffli

- JIMMY by Ella Vakkasova, producer: EAVE 2005 graduate Karsten Stöter is in development. The German-Russian co-production about a musical prodigy is supported by FFA, MDM, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Fond Kino. The film has a budget of 1.6 M €. Shooting is planned on locations in Russia and Central Asia.
- AFERIM! by Radu Jude, producer: EAVE 2007 graduate & Romanian National Coordinator Ada Solomon is in development. Aferim! is set in the 19th century, a time when Gypsy slavery was common. The story revolves around a regional policeman, Costandin, who is hired by a local boyar to find Carfin, a Gypsy slave who had run away from his estate after having an affair with the boyar’s wife. Accompanied by his adolescent son and his deputy Ghita, Costandin sets out to find the fugitive, starting a journey full of adventures. The film mixes elements of a picaresque novel with elements of a classic American Western.
- LOS HONGOS by Oscar Ruiz Navia, producers: PUENTES 2012 graduate Diana Bustamante and EAVE 1998 graduate Guillaume de Seille is shooting later this year. The film is presently in pre-production, while principal photography will start in June. Ruiz Navia's second feature film, produced by Colombian company Contravia Films, and co-produced by Burning Blue (Colombia), Arizona Films (France) and Mantarraya Producciones (Mexico), participated in FrameWork 2011 and won a TFL Production Award of 50.000 Euro in the same year.

- LE BAISER DE MARSEILLE by Valérie Mitteaux, producer: EAVE Film Finance Forum 2010 graduate Jean-Laurent Csinidis has successfully finished its crowdfunding campaign. Shooting is planned for summer. The teaser of the project can be watched here: http://fr.ulule.com/baiser-de-marseille
- EAVE 2012 project OUR SUN by Joost van Ginkel, producer: EAVE 2012 graduate Ellen Havenith, co-producer EAVE 2012 graduate Kalin Kalinov is in development. Supported by The Netherlands Film Fund, the project was selected for CineMart (IFFR) and Sofia Meetings (SIFF).
- EAVE 2012 project STAGE FRIGHT by Yorgos Zois, producers: EAVE 2012 graduate Maria Dandraki and EAVE 2007 graduate Siniša Juricic, co-producer: EAVE 2012 graduate Ellen Havenith is in development. The thriller won the C.N.C development award and has been awarded 80,000€ at the TorinoFilmLab.
- FIXEUR by Adrian Sitaru, producer: EAVE 2011 graduate Monica Lazurean-Gorgan is in development. The feature inspired by true events tells the story of Radu, a young Romanian journalist, who is given the chance to work as a „fixeur” for a French TV crew willing to do a report on two minor Romanian prostitutes expelled from Paris. Radu is producing all the information the French crew needs, but when he gets to meet one of the girls he begins questioning if he was doing the right thing. The script is written by Adrian and Claudia Silisteanu. The film is produced by 4Proof Film which is now looking for a French coproducer. The budget is approximately 700,000 EUR, partially covered by the 65,610 EUR production grant received from the National Centre for Cinema.
In Production April 2013
- PHOTOSHOP by Silvana Mendušic producer: EAVE 2009 graduate Darija Kulenovic Gudan is in production. The project is supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the City of Zagreb, the Croatian Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts. PHOTOSHOP is set to be finished by July. The Film has a budget of approximately 46,000 EUR.
- QUIET PEOPLE by Ognjen Svilicic, producer: EAVE 2010 graduate Janja Kralj is shooting. Production companies: KinoElektron and Maxima Film, co-producers are Biberche Productions and Trice Films.www.kinoelektron.com
- BYPASS by Duane Hopkins, producer: EAVE 2002 graduate Samm Haillay is filming and has another four weeks to go until its wrap. Hopkins' second feature film was developed at FrameWork 2009 and won a Torino Film Lab Production Award of 130.000 Euro. BYPASS is supported by the British Film Institute (BFI), Film Agency Wales and Film i Väst (Sweden).
- MIRAGE D’AMOUR AVEC FANFARE, directed and produced by EAVE 1988-1989 graduate Hubert Toint is shooting in the Chilean Atacama Desert. The film is produced by Saga Film in coproduction with Polaris Film (France) and PS Production (Switzerland), with funding from the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles, the RTBF, Wallimage and the Federal Office of Swiss Culture. Filming should end on May 25th.
- QUI VIVE by Marianne Tardieu, producer: EAVE 2010 graduate Céline Maugis is in production. The story centres on Chérif, a newcomer in the world of security, who lets thieves know about the shop where he works, thereby unwillingly triggering a tragedy. The film is supported by CNC, Brittany Film Commission and Région Pays de la Loire. Shooting on locations in Brittany and the Loire Region takes place in April.
BRAND NEW-U by Simon Pummell, producer: EAVE 2006 graduate Reinier Selen is in production. The story follows the 33-year-old Slater, who obsessively chases Nadia, the love of his life. When she suddenly disappears Slater wants to report her missing, but realises he knows nothing about her. The only clue he has is Brand New-U, a strange organisation that deals in new personalities. The film is shot in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands. Besides support from the Netherlands Film Fund, the production is supported by European MEDIA program, British Film Institute and Irish Film Board.
In Post-production April 2013
- EPIC by Ben Hopkins, producer: EAVE 2011 graduate Vladimer Katcharava is in post-production. The black comedy about a washed-up Oscar-winning British film director who is invited to make a national epic in an obscure republic in the Caucasus is produced by 20 Steps Production, Brandstorm Entertainment, Film And Music Entertainment (F&ME) and Metrafilms. Funding comes from Hessen Invest, British Film Institute (BFI), Arte Germany, Georgian National Film Centre (GNFC) and Cine Plus.
- AGA by Hiner Saleem, co-producer: EAVE 2005 graduate Karsten Stöter, is in post-production. The Western about the difficulties of building a democracy after the fall of Saddam Hussein is produced by Agat Films and Cie / Ex Nihilo, Arte France Cinéma, Chaocorp, HS Productions, and Rohfilm. The film is financed by Canal +, Eurimages and Abu Dhabi Film Commission.
- BUDDHA’S LITTLE FINGER by Tony Pemberton, producer: EAVE 2005 graduate Karsten Stöter is in post-production. The film is about a young Russian gangster who loses his memory during an interrogation process in prison and believes that he is a Russian revolutionary poet in 1919. Funding comes from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), MEDIA Programme, Telefilm Canada, eOne, Cine Plus and SODEC.
- RUN BOY, RUN produced and directed by EAVE 1994 graduate Pepe Danquart, co-producer: EAVE 2009 graduate Hanneke van der Tas is in post-production. The Adaptation of Israeli author Uri Orlev’s Holocaust novel of the same name is funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), Eurimages, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (fff-bayern), German Federal Film Board (FFA), German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), Hessen Invest and Franco-German Co-production Support Committee.

TIES THAT BIND just finished the first workshop 2013!
The first workshop of TIES THAT BIND just came to a close in Udine (Italy) during the Udine Far East Film Festival from April 21-27, 2013. The second workshop will take place in Busan (South Korea) during the Busan International Film Festival in parallel to the Asian Project Market from October 5-11, 2013.
The programme brings together five producers with feature fiction projects from Asia and five from Europe. During the two workshops they will work together with top level experts from both continents on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching and promotion, and meet with decision makers during both sessions.

Continuing the great success of the PUENTES workshops for European and Latin American producers, we are delighted to announce the fifth edition of PUENTES, connecting professionals from Europe & Latin America.
PUENTES is targeted at Latin American & European producers with projects, bringing them together with potential financiers, distributors, sales agents, and reinforcing artistic and industrial cooperation between Europe & Latin America.
The workshop modules bring together 5 European & 5 Latin American producers with their feature projects in development for 2 workshops in Locarno, Switzerland (August 8-14, 2013) in partnership with the Locarno International Film Festival and its Industry Days, and in Montevideo, Uruguay (November 29-December 4, 2013) in cooperation with Mutante Cine. Thanks to our partnership with VENTANA SUR (December 3-6, 2013 in Buenos Aires, Argentina), free accreditations will be offered to the selected participants who want to attend the market after the second workshop.
PUENTES combines producer training, project development, and networking. During the two workshops producers will work together with ‘state of the art’ experts from both continents on script development, co-production between Latin America and Europe, financing in the two regions, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching and promotion, and meet with decision makers during both sessions.
The workshop will enable feature film producers from both continents to work together in two workshops and will offer the 10 selected participants:
- top level professional and project development,
- work on the comprehensive development, production and distribution of European and Latin American projects,
- cooperation and co-production on these and future projects,
- networking between the participants and their companies to create medium and long term co-financing and co-production relationships,
- access to a network of producers, financiers, markets, festivals, distributors and sales agents in both continents.
Target group:
Experienced feature film producers from Europe and Latin America wishing to work on an international scale and to create long term creative and business relationships between Europe and Latin America. Interested producers should apply with a feature film project in development stage.
European producers applying must be able to demonstrate a clear involvement with Latin America and vice versa. In exceptional cases, we can also consider applications of producers without project. Applications with project will be given priority.
Project criteria:
- feature-length fiction film (for theatrical release)
- projects suitable for an international co-production and looking for co-producers
- preferably a minimum of 20% should be in place
- projects suggested by European applicants should have a link to Latin America (thematic, cultural, technical) and the producer should be motivated to work with / in Latin America and vice versa
- projects suggested by applicants should have a potential for co-production
- producers must have completed at least one film released theatrically in the last 3 years
- 1st draft of the script must be available in English for the first workshop and at the latest by July 15, 2013.

B’EST - Producers’ Workshop Baltic Bridge East by West
CALL FOR PROJECTS
The Baltic Bridge East by West (B’EST) is an initiative to be held in 2013 by the organizers of the Baltic Event (Estonia), and RFilms and CTB Film Company (Russia) in cooperation with EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), and with the support from MEDIA Mundus.
B’EST consists of two workshops, which will take place on September 11-15 in St. Petersburg within the framework of St. Petersburg International Film Festival and November 26-29 in Tallinn, within the framework of Baltic Event. The workshop will bring together 10 producers with feature film projects from the European Union (5 participants) and the CIS countries and Georgia (5 participants) and will offer the selected participants:
- 5-day workshop-training, which includes plenaries on the script development process, financing in the Eastern and Western Europe, legal aspects of co-production, marketing strategies, as well as individual meetings with script, pitching and finance/marketing consultants
- meetings with decision-makers and potential co-production partners in St. Petersburg, Russia
- online sessions with the producers and tutors concerning the development of the scripts and the projects during the 2-month gap between the workshops
- 2-day follow-up session regarding the development of the projects and the final preparation for pitching at Baltic Event
- presentation of the projects at Baltic Event and meetings with potential financiers, co-producers, sales agents, and distributors
Target group:
- experienced feature film producers wishing to work on an international scale and create long-term creative and business relationships between Western and Eastern Europe
- interested producers should apply with a feature film project in development stage
Project criteria:
- full-length feature film with potential for theatrical distribution
- suitable for an international co-production and looking for co-producers
- preferably national support in place
- projects from the European Union and Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are accepted
- projects should have a link to the other region (thematic, cultural, technical) and the producer should be motivated to work with / in the other region
Special conditions:
- participation includes an accreditation fee of 200 Euros
- once a project is selected, the producer should be present at both workshops

The time limit is 25 minutes and films of all genres are accepted.ASFF allows for both budding and established filmmakers to connect with new, worldwide audiences and interact with some of the biggest personalities in the film industry today. High profile ASFF attendees in 2012 included representatives from Warp, BAFTA, Channel 4 and Raindance. Are you a producer or a post-production supervisor looking for a smoother post-production for your feature films? EP2C is a week-long workshop dedicated to the understanding and management of the post-production process of feature films. We stand on the firm belief that a well-scheduled, -budgeted and -run post-production can save a lot of time, work and money as well as avoid unnecessary artistic compromise, especially in the case of demanding and multi-country co-productions.

Celebrating its 9th edition, the CROSSROADS Co-production Forum announcing its Call for Entries for its next event, taking place during the 54th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in November 2013.
CROSSROADS’ goal is to support the producers of feature-length fiction film projects that originate from and/or deal with the Mediterranean, Central and South-eastern Europe regions. Qualifying features should be produced or co-produced by a country in this area or contain story elements from the aforementioned regions. Mediterranean and European producers with a feature film script are given the chance to encounter a new network of financiers, co-producers and leading industry specialists. The programme is varied and provides the opportunity to meet, formally and informally, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants.
Countries that are eligible to submit are: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, FYROM, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.
In its previous editions, CROSSROADS included projects by filmmakers such as Athina Rachel Tsangari, Annemarie Jacir, Amos Gitai, Yesim Ustaoglu, Constantine Giannaris, Alexis Alexiou, Gabriel Achim, Michel Kammoun, Radu Jude, Zeki Demirkubuz, Florin Serban and Peter Brosens & Jessica Woodworth among others.
Invited industry experts include producers, distributors, sales agents, film fund & festival representatives, organisations and institutions from all over the world.
Each year the Crossroads Jury gives an award to the best Crossroads film project: a co-production award with the Two Thirty Five company, providing complete image & sound post-production services. The producer of the winning project is also granted a Producer’s Network accreditation for the 2014 Cannes IFF.
A second prize will be awarded by the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC), worth 7000 euros cash.
Sofia Meetings will select a project that will participate in their next session in March 2014 and the MFI (Mediterranean Film Institute) is offering a scholarship to its Script 2 Film Workshop for one of the projects. Also, Initiative Film is offering development consultation to a Greek project of its choice.

We are delighted to announce that in a week the TIES THAT BIND Asia - Europe Producers Workshop will kick-off in Udine!
The ten selected producers, 5 from Asia – Philippines, Singapore, Japan, China and Thailand – and 5 from Europe – Belgium, France, Germany, Finland and the Netherlands – will meet for the first workshop in Udine (Italy) during the Udine Far East Film Festival from April 22-26, 2013.
The 10 selected producers will work on the development of their projects under the guidance of top industry professionals from both continents.

At workshop 1, various plenary sessions will address key issues of project development and company management in Europe and Asia.
Linda Beath will dedicate her session to presenting financing landscape in Europe and Lorna Tee will analyse the financing landscape in Asia. Clare Downs will elaborate on strategies for script development and also give a film analysis on Oldboy by Chan-wook Park. Sibylle Kurz will introduce the principles of pitching. Silvia Simonutti and Marie-Pierre Vallé will elaborate on world sales and the state of the Asian market. Álvaro Vega will give an introduction into marketing strategies for producers. Mathew Scott will interview Roger Garcia focusing on independent cinema and the festival circuit. Mathew Scott will also interview Albert Lee regarding the greater China market. Nathalie Streiff will present the French World Cinema Fund “Aide aux Cinémas du Monde”.
All experts will also have individual meetings with the participants for further discussions on topics they had previously addressed in their plenary sessions. During the individual meetings they will address more specific issues related to the participants’ projects.
Daily group work sessions will be at the core of the workshop. The participants will work in one group in which they will discuss and analyse each other's projects under the guidance of their group leader Elise Jalladeau and Ties that Bind Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher.
In addition, a special training day for producers, directors and authors from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will be organized. Two Ties that Bind experts, Clare Downs and Sibylle Kurz, will elaborate on script development and pitching strategies. These sessions will be followed by a networking event between the representatives of the regional film industry and the Ties that Bind participants.

During the two workshops the selected participants will work together with top level experts from both continents on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching and promotion, and meet with decision makers during both sessions.

CALL FOR PROJECTS
The Baltic Bridge East by West (B’EST) is an initiative to be held in 2013 by the organizers of the Baltic Event (Estonia), and RFilms and CTB Film Company (Russia) in cooperation with EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), and with the support from MEDIA Mundus.
B’EST consists of two workshops, which will take place on September 11-15 in St. Petersburg within the framework of St. Petersburg International Film Festival and November 26-29 in Tallinn, within the framework of Baltic Event. The workshop will bring together 10 producers with feature film projects from the European Union (5 participants) and the CIS countries and Georgia (5 participants) and will offer the selected participants:
- 5-day workshop-training, which includes plenaries on the script development process, financing in the Eastern and Western Europe, legal aspects of co-production, marketing strategies, as well as individual meetings with script, pitching and finance/marketing consultants
- meetings with decision-makers and potential co-production partners in St. Petersburg, Russia
- online sessions with the producers and tutors concerning the development of the scripts and the projects during the 2-month gap between the workshops
- 2-day follow-up session regarding the development of the projects and the final preparation for pitching at Baltic Event
- presentation of the projects at Baltic Event and meetings with potential financiers, co-producers, sales agents, and distributors
Target group:
- experienced feature film producers wishing to work on an international scale and create long-term creative and business relationships between Western and Eastern Europe
- interested producers should apply with a feature film project in development stage
Project criteria:
- full-length feature film with potential for theatrical distribution
- suitable for an international co-production and looking for co-producers
- preferably national support in place
- projects from the European Union and Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are accepted
- projects should have a link to the other region (thematic, cultural, technical) and the producer should be motivated to work with / in the other region
Special conditions:
- participation includes an accreditation fee of 200 Euros
- once a project is selected, the producer should be present at both workshops
- the programme covers travel and accommodation costs
- finalized films must mention their participation at B’EST in the credits
- all documents have to be sent in English – the working language of the workshop is English
- submission of the project is considered as acceptance of special conditions
