12th edition of TTB takes place online

TIES THAT BIND (TTB), the leading workshop programme connecting professionals from Asia and Europe, is taking place online between November 16 - 26, 2020.

For 2020 edition 25 participants were selected out of a record number of 66 applications from 30 countries. To discover the list of participants, click here for the full list.

The participants work together in a group led by EAVE graduate Jonas Weydemann (Weydemann Bros., DE) and TTB graduate Bianca Balbuena (Epicmedia Productions, PH). The two group leaders guide the participants’ discussion and analysis of each others’ projects from both the Asian and European perspective.

TTB Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher (Ici et à Productions, FR) has put together a team of top-notch industry professionals from Europe and Asia. Clare Downs (Script Consultant, UK) introduced the main script development tools to strengthen the participants’ understanding of narrative principles. Sibylle Kurz (Pitching Consultant, DE) was coaching the participants how to fine-tune their pitches and embrace pitching as a development tool. Jean-Baptiste Babin (Backup Media Group, FR) and Justin Deimen (108 Media, SG) gave detailed advice on the projects’ finance plans. Nicolas Brigaud-Robert (Playtime, FR) elaborated on the international market for independent films and Constanza Arena (CinemaChile, CL) gave insight into marketing tools. The experts’ team was joined by Ossi Nishri (Quiddity, IL) who was a script consultant for TTB’s first drama series project.

Furthermore, the participants had an opportunity to meet the representatives of international film funds, such as Vincenzo Bugno (World Cinema Fund, DE), Iole Maria Giannattasio (MIBACT, IT), Magalie Armand (CNC, FR), Per Eiriki Gilsvik (Sorfond, NO), Ping Yu Chiu (Taipei Film Commission), and the representatives of international co-production markets, such Martina Bleis (Berlinale Co-Production Market, DE), Inke Van Loocke (IFFR Pro, NL), Seri Park (Asian Project Market, KR) and Sarah Schiesser (Open Doors, CH).

Between December 1 - 4, 2020 the TTB participants will have the opportunity to meet Asian and European decision makers at the online edition of the SAFF Project Market, which will take place in conjunction with the ATF - Asia TV Forum & Market.

TIES THAT BIND is organised by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund, EAVE, Udine Far East Film Festival and Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA) and supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-programme of the European Union and Aurora Media Holdings. TIES THAT BIND is held in conjunction with Asia TV Forum & Market and ScreenSingapore.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
