THE VANISHED PRESIDENT by Jean-Marc Peyrefitte in post-production now

In Post-production September 2021

  • THE VANISHED PRESIDENT by Jean-Marc Peyrefitte, producer: EAVE graduate Benoît Roland is in post-production. The story revolves around a given question: "How could we have elected a man who wanted to abolish the death penalty, give women the right to vote and allow the colonies their independence?" A question, which was posed by Georges Clemenceau, who has just lost the presidential election, against all odds, to an unknown opponent by the name of Paul Deschanel. This new president throws himself into his brand-new role, and even though the task is huge and the pressure intolerable, his first steps make quite an impression. But the cynicism of the political world, the game played by the institutions and the brutality of media campaigns soon catch up with and derail him. And then, one evening, he falls out of a train and vanishes into thin air…. THE VANISHED PRESIDENT is produced by TTB graduate Jérémy Zelnik and Tancrède Ramonet on behalf of Dibona Films and by Camille Gentet for Pan Européenne Production, in co-production with Orange Studio, Tandem, Belgian firm Wrong Men North (Benoît Roland), Temps Noir and Flamme Film. Pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+, BeTV/VOO and Proximus, the feature film also enjoys the support of the Île-de-France and Pays de la Loire regions, and of the SOFICA companies Cinémage, Cinéventure, Cofimage, La Banque Postale Image, Palatine and Indéfilms. Having wrapped on 31 July, the film shoot unfolded in settings including the Élysée Palace, the Quai d'Orsay, the Palace of Versailles’ Conference Room, the Château de Champs-sur Marne and Clemenceau’s home in Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard within the Vendée region.

  • THE HAPPIEST MAN IN THE WORLD by Teona Strugar Mitevska, producers: EAVE graduate and Macedonian National Coordinator Labina Mitevska, EAVE group leader Danijel Hocevar, EAVE graduate Benoît Roland, EAVE graduate and National Coordinator Bosnia and Herzegovina Amra Baksic Camo, EAVE participant Maria Møller Christoffersen is in post-production. The film tells the story of Asja, a 40-year-old single woman living in Sarajevo, who meets Zoran, a 43-year-old banker, at a dating event. Zoran is not there looking for love though, but for forgiveness. During the war in 1993 he was shooting at the city from the opposite side, and he wants to meet his first victim. Now, they both have to relive the pain in their search for forgiveness. The film poses many existential questions: How to live with war? Is there life after war? Is there love after war? And when does war stop? Labina Mitevska of Sisters and Brother Mitevski (North Macedonia) is producing in coproduction with Vertigo (Slovenia), Terminal 3 (Croatia), Entre Chien et Loup (EAVE graduate Sébastien Delloye, Belgium), SCCA/ (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Beofilm (EAVE participant Maria Møller Christoffersen, Denmark). The development and production have been supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme, Eurimages, the North Macedonia Film Agency, the Danish Film Institute, the Belgium Tax Shelter, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Film Fund Sarajevo.
