PUENTES project BLACK FROST is shooting
In Production July 2015
- THE PLEDGE by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, producer: EAVE graduate Konstantina Stavrianou is in production. The drama is following a railroad worker who finds a substantial amount of money. The Bulgarian National Film Center is supporting the production with a €190,000 grant. THE PLEDGE is the second part of the directing duo’s so-called “newspaper clippings trilogy”, as the stories are inspired by articles published in the Bulgarian press. Shooting started in July in Sofia and in various villages around the Bulgarian capital, and is expected to wrap in August.
- JAMAIS CONTENTE by Émilie Deleuze, producer: EAVE group leader Patrick Sobelman is in post-production. The plot revolves around Aurore, a teenage girl. Some might say that she leads a simple life. But when you’re 13 years old and, like her, your perspective on boys, school, your family and your mates is simultaneously uncompromising and brimming with ridicule, everything begins to take on the guise of a blissful psychodrama. Especially with the arrival of a new French teacher, the threat of ending up in a boarding school, the fact that you repeatedly fall head over heels in love and you have the crazy idea of going on stage to be the singer in a group. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and OCS the feature is also benefiting from the support of the Ile-de-France region, and the Cinémage, Soficinetv and La Banque Postale Image Soficas.
- HISTORY OF LOVE by Radu Mihaileanu, co-producer: EAVE graduate Tudor Giurgiu is shooting in Romania. The film showcases a truly global cast. Derek Jacobi plays Leo, an old Polish Jewish immigrant who lives in New York, remembering the great love story of his life. Across town, in Brooklyn, young Alma (Canadian actress Sophie Nélisse) is determined to find the ideal man for her mother to remarry. Gemma Arterton plays Alma at a different age. Mih?ileanu’s screenplay connects the two stories and three different generations with the help of a fictional book written before World War II in an Eastern European village.
- MORRIS FROM AMERICA by Chad Hartigan, co-producer: EAVE graduate Martin Heisler is shooting. The coming-of-age story about a 13-year-old American living in Germany began shooting in June.
- THIS BEAUTIFUL FANTASTIC by Simon Aboud, producer: EAVE graduate Christine Alderson is in production. The film is about a shy children's author and a wild inventor who fall in love amidst a beautiful garden in the heart of London.
- PUENTES project BLACK FROST by Maximiliano Schonfeld, producer: PUENTES graduate Barbara Francisco is currently shooting. The plot: The plantations in some areas of Entre Ríos have been devastated by the black frost, which is about to reach the Lell brother’s land. A young woman arrives at the farm, acting lost and they offer her temporary lodge. The frost stops. Hope emerges among the villagers that start to worship her like a saint: Alejandra might become a savior, although her plans are hiding something else. A film about faith, the power of belief and about the small vile deeds surrounding popular saints.
