EAVE Inclusion
EAVE’s work towards diversity and inclusion in the film industry
EAVE has a stated focus on diversity and inclusion as part of its corporate values related to the training of the European screen industry.
At EAVE, we believe that inclusion in the film industry is essential for ensuring authentic representation, challenging stereotypes and bringing audiences diverse, real-world experiences. By making resources and structures accessible to filmmakers from different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, we contribute to a richer, more powerful industry that reflects the full spectrum of human stories.
As EAVE CEO Kristina Trapp puts it:
"At EAVE, diversity is a key focus—not only regarding nationality, geographic spread, race, age, and gender, but also encompassing project type, experience, background, business models, and involvement in shaping local, regional, and national industries and policies. We believe that the more diverse the group we bring together at EAVE, the more inspiring the process will be for everyone”.
EAVE aims to support significant and lasting changes to the screen ecosystem in Europe, ensuring that the pipeline of producers diversifies and that original stories from a broader cross-section of communities and perspectives emerge and are shared globally.
Through this work, EAVE strives to foster more inclusive operational and programming frameworks while also encouraging inclusive co-production and production practices. We are continuously adapting our teaching methodology to be more accessible and equitable.
EAVE has successfully leveled the playing field for Low-Capacity Countries (LCC), promoting gender equality and supporting producers from the Global South. It also focuses on the integration of marginalized communities within Europe (Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour - BIPOC) while increasing accessibility for disabled communities.
