- MATRIA by Alvaro Gago, producer: EAVE graduate and Spanish National Coordinator Maria Zamora is in post-production. The movie’s plot is set in a coastal town and shows how Ramona works in a frozen seafood factory and occasionally unloads mussels in the harbour, to supplement her meagre salary. She lives with her boyfriend, who works at sea and spends his free time drinking in the bar, and has a 21-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, with whom she has frequent clashes. Ramona’s routine is disrupted when the factory managers inform the employees that they have had to reduce their salaries: she protests and is subsequently fired. She immediately starts working in the house of a man of very few words, who often takes her for granted. However, he changes his tune when Ramona helps him to pass the tests he needs to do to renew his driving licence. Their relationship blossoms, and she ends up finding her own little haven in that house. MATRIA is a film staged by Matriuska Producciones, Avalon PC and Ringo Media. It has secured support from the ICAA, AGADIC, TVG, Pontevedra County Council and La Incubadora.
- PUENTES project A BELA AMERICA by Antonio Ferreira, producer: PUENTES graduate Tathiani Sacilotto is in post-production. The film tells the story of Lucas, a talented cook who has had a difficult upbringing and a life marked by financial, social and emotional family struggles, who falls in love with América, a TV host and also a presidential candidate. His passion pushes him to strive not only for a better life, but also for a connection with America, using his cooking abilities to impress her, secretly sneaking in grandiose dishes for her to enjoy. Ferreira’s intentions go beyond portraying a simple love story: it’s a tale about social inequality, ambition and family bonds, marked by a dark ambiance, filled with suspense, and with small, ironic details and unexpected moments. The film is being produced by Tathiani Sacilotto in co-production with Refinaria Filmes (Brazil). The project and has secured the support of the Ibermedia programme.
- FOUR LITTLE ADULTS by Selma Vilhunen, producers: EAVE graduates Venla Hellstedt and Elli Toivoniemi is in post-production. Based on her own original script and billed as “a contemporary look at the various forms of love”, her new movie revolves around Juulia, who discovers that her husband Matias is having an affair with another woman called Enni, and she decides to embrace polyamory without harbouring any secrets. FOUR LITTLE ADULTS is being produced by Finland’s Tuffi Films, in co-production with PUENTES graduate Nima Yousefi for Sweden’s Hobab and Birgit Kemner for France’s Manny Films, with co-financing from SVT (Sweden) and Aurora Studios. It also received backing from the Finnish Film Foundation, the Swedish Film Institute and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
