EAVE WILL DELIVER MASTERCLASSES TO SUPPORT UKRAINIAN FILM AND TV CREATORS, AS PART OF THE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UKRAINIAN FILM ACADEMY, HOUSE OF EUROPE AND NETFLIX

Last year, the Ukrainian Film Academy and House of Europe, a programme funded by the European Union, partnered with Netflix to help Ukrainian professionals in the film and TV industry impacted by the full-scale Russian invasion. In 2023 this partnership, supported by Netflix’s Fund for Creative Equity, continues with two new partners - the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) and the New York Film Academy - providing additional access to knowledge and training to hundreds of professionals in various industry roles.

As part of this partnership, applications are now open for a series of digital masterclasses for producers and line producers prepared by EAVE’s network of international experts, providing a comprehensive understanding of all stages of a project life-span from a co-production point of view, tailor made to the Ukrainian AV industry. Eligible Ukrainian creators can apply through the House of Europe website until May 12.

EAVE will also engage with a cohort of professionals who received script development grants  last year. They will continue to receive support through a group session to discuss the shape of the industry landscape plus 1:1 script doctoring and project development sessions covering financing, co-producing, marketing, distribution and festival strategies, delivered by EAVE.

The 2022 programmes supported 100 creative professionals with stipends, over 400 received access to digital education, as well as 48 two-person creative teams who received script development grants and online sessions with international industry experts. Out of those projects, 9 have already found foreign partners and co-producers, 4 have found international donor funding. More have been selected for presentations at various film festivals across the world, including Berlinale, Göteborg Film Festival and WATCH DOCS International Film Festival. Among last year's supported participants, EAVE graduate Dmytro Sukhanov from Toy Cinema (Ukraine) has recently won "Best Project Award” at the Series Mania co-pitching session with the project UNSPOKEN, co-produced by EAVE graduate Anna Rozalska from Match&Spark (Poland).

“Thanks to the script development grant from the Ukrainian Film Academy, in partnership with Netflix, we now have the script of the first 3 episodes and the Bible. And of course the series deck. It was an honor for us to present the first Ukrainian high-concept series in co-production with Poland at the highest-profile TV industry event in Europe" - said Dmytro.
