EAVE Marketing Workshop 2016

A four-day intensive programme exploring film marketing throughout the process of development, production, festival screening, exhibition and distribution.

In an industry that is rapidly changing, increasing their marketing and distribution skills is vital for producers. Don't miss the deadline for EAVE's Marketing Workshop  to learn how to find and engage an audience for your film. Join experts and colleagues to work on the latest market trends and innovative methods of marketing and audience involvement. Discuss your project with top level marketing specialists.

HANDS-ON FORMAT

Participants can apply with a project (documentary / fiction feature / transmedia) in any stage of production – from early development to postproduction.  

In group work sessions led by the EAVE experts, the participants (with and without projects) will work together on these projects, analyzing the sales and marketing potential and developing unique and innovative strategies for marketingsales and audience engagement for their films. 

During the workshop, a trailer for one of the selected projects will be edited under the guidance of the EAVE experts.

The workshop consists of group work, plenary sessions in a small group as well as private tutorials with the experts. 

It is targeted at producers wishing to gain a greater understanding of the marketing process as well as for people working in sales, distribution and marketing departments.  We also appreciate applications from other professionals in the industry (e.g. regional and national funding institutions) and from relevant trainers and consultants. Applicants are welcome to apply with or without a project (any stage of development and genre). Distributors / sales agents can also apply with a film to be launched for distribution / sales / festivals as a case study to be discussed in the groups and to receive expert feedback and advice on their strategies.

Distribution skills: 

  • introduction to acquisitions and distribution
  • overview on the international sales process 
  • legal aspects of sales and distribution agreements
  • classic and alternative distribution models and choices

Promotion skills: 

  • Introduction to marketing key elements and concepts
  • tips and tools for business to business (b2b) and business to consumer (b2c) marketing and audience design
  • case studies on the producer’s point of view to marketing
  • strategies for festivals and publicity
  • marketing from the distributor’ point of view
  • online marketing
  • VoD services and platforms
  • Trailers and showreels.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
