The 5th East Doc Platform (EDP) edition is the largest Central and East European documentary event. It is the meeting point for 120 East European filmmakers and producers who seek creative, financial and distributional support, and more than 100 key international producers, festival programmers, commissioning editors, buyers, distributors, sales agents, film fund representatives who will be able to choose from the most promising films and projects. East Doc Platform helps filmmakers to develop their story and visual style, and find suitable partners for co-production and distribution. All selected projects in development are eligible for the East Doc Platform Award (7500€).
The programme of the East Doc Platform consists of East European Forum (pitch), Project Market, Doc Tank (transmedia lab), Czech Docs Panel (rough cut screenings) and KineDok (conference on alternative distribution and screening).
The East European Forum is preceded by a 5-day preparatory workshop whose ultimate goal is to prepare participants for the public pitching session by working on their communication and presentation skills, finalizing the visual materials of their projects, and creating a plan for its sale and distribution. The workshop is followed by a 2-day Pitching Forum where all participants pitch their projects to international guests, meet them to negotiate about possible cooperation and hear their comments within the Feedback Round Tables and One-on-one Meetings.
Project Market is a two day event for the presentation of documentary projects in all stages of development. It is based on pre-arranged one-on-one meetings with all attending East Doc Platform guests. Project Market supports international co-financing, distribution and promotion.
Doc Tank is a development lab for transmedia and socially engaged documentary projects, which offers consultation and guidance on project´s storytelling techniques, on designing the campaign strategy or recommends solutions for web and mobile apps. Doc Tank tutors and experts range from transmedia storytelling and production specialists, content management and distribution experts, crowdfunding and campaign strategists, etc.
