Press release

PUENTES – the sixth edition takes off in Montevideo together with EAVE ON DEMAND Uruguay!

The sixth edition of PUENTES  starts in Montevideo and Buenos Aires for the 14 selected producers and professionals from Europe and Latin America.

The second PUENTES workshop will take place in Locarno (Switzerland) in August 2015, organised with our partners from the Festival del film Locarno.

Following the first workshop and thanks to our special partnership with VENTANA SUR (December 1-5, 2014), the producers selected for PUENTES and EAVE ON DEMAND Montevideo will attend the market in Buenos Aires where they will meet potential partners and decision makers for the projects they have been developing at PUENTES throughout the year.

In parallel to the PUENTES workshop, a tailor-made EAVE ON DEMAND session in Montevideo will be organised for 10 selected Uruguayan producers. In addition to their ‘à la carte” workshop, the producers will have the opportunity to network with the Puentes participants and attend VENTANA SUR together.

Throughout the 6 years of its existence, PUENTES has become the most relevant and successful training programme for developing European-Latin American co-production with exceptionally good results in terms of sales and distribution and festival exposure: 69% of the finalised projects developed at PUENTES got an international sales agent on board and over 84,6% of the projects have a successful festival exposure.

Recent examples of successful PUENTES projects in terms of festivals and international distribution are HISTORIA DEL MIEDO by Benjamin Naishtat (Berlinale Competition 2014), FERIADO by Diego Araujo (Berlinale Generation 14+ 2014),TANTA AGUA by Ana Guevara & Leticia Jorge (Berlinale Panorama 2013), TRES by Pablo Stoll (Cannes Directors’ Fortnight 2012) and GLORIA by Sebastian Lelio (Berlinale Competition 2013) which was sold to 29 countries worldwide.
