Apply now for the sixth edition of TIES THAT BIND – Asia / Europe Co-Production Workshop before March 2, 2015!

In the six years of its existence, Ties that Bind organised in partnership with FVG Audiovisual Fund, EAVE, Udine Far East Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival / Asian Project Market has become the most relevant and successful training programme for developing European-Asian co-productions. 

To name just some of the most recent examples, Ties that Bind project Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories has just premiered in Berlinale competition. Ties that Bind project Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere won Best Film at the latest Venice Critics’ Week. 

New features in 2015:

TIES THAT BIND is targeted at 10 Asian & European producers with projects. We are now opening the call in addition also to other European professionals interested in working with Asia (sales agents, financiers, distributors, festival programmers, co-production market representatives) or producers without project. 5 of them will be selected to be an active part of the group.

Ties that Bind 2015 will feature again 2 workshops, the first taking place from April 28 to May 2, 2015 within the framework of the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy. The dates for the second workshop will be announced shortly.

Target group:

  • Applicants WITH A PROJECTexperienced feature film producers from Asia (Japan, Korea, China incl. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia) and Europe (European Union and the countries mentioned in this document as eligible to apply for the MEDIA SUB-programme) wishing to work on an international scale and to create long term creative and business relationships between Europe and Asia. Interested producers should apply with a feature film project in development stage. European producers should apply with a project that has a strong co-production or co-financing potential with Asia. 
  • Applicants WITHOUT PROJECTrelated European film professionals (such as sales agents, distributors, festival and market representatives, financiers) or European producers coming without project and wishing to work on an international scale and to create long term creative and business relationships with Asia.

Participation fees & conditions:

The participation at Ties That Bind is free of charge. Each participant will be offered accommodation during the workshop stay and we will cover part of the meals. In addition, we will offer a limited number of partial scholarships to contribute to the travel costs in specific cases.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
