EAVE Producers Workshop culminates in Leipzig

The EAVE 2019 Producers Workshop’s third and final session in Leipzig, Germany (October 28 – November 4), is organized in collaboration with DOK Leipzig and in partnership with MDM Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

78 leading international decision makers (complete list below) will meet the 51 top producing talents from 29 countries and discover the 29 fiction and documentary projects developed during this year’s EAVE Producers’ Workshop, as well as 2 guest projects from EAVE’s international programmes Puentes and Ties That Bind.

The week features two special events:
The EAVE Platform Day, which will also be attended by 30 selected German producers, and an EAVE Idea Lab on Reshaping Production Funding for the Future, a think tank for invited funders and EAVE producers.

In addition, there will be a rich programme of plenary sessions, group work and individual meetings with EAVE experts and guests.

The goal of the EAVE – Producing for the Platforms day is to provide producers with a general overview of the platforms including the opportunities and challenges they bring to the business. The confirmed speakers include Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks IT), Yohann Comte (Charades, FR), Nicola de Angelis (Fabula Pictures, IT), Christoph Fey (Unverzagt von Have, DE), Timo Gössler (DE), Aleksandar Govedarica (Syndicado, CA), David Keitsch (Komplizen Serien, DE), Wolfgang Knöpfler (Terra Mater, AT), Nicola Lusuardi (Nightswim, IT), Grégoire Melin (Kinology, FR), Xavier Rambert (GLANCE, FR), Luis Singer (StickUp Filmproduktion, DE), Katarina Tomkova (MIDPOINT, CZ) and Sander Verdonk (New Amsterdam Film Company, NL).

The Platform Day is organized in cooperation with MIDPOINT TV Launch, Series Mania, Torino SeriesLab and DOK Leipzig, and supported by MDM Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

Reshaping Production Funding for the Future: an Idea Lab is a think tank introduced and moderated by EAVE Finance Expert Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks IT), Petri Kemppinen (FI) and EAVE graduate Marleen Slot (Viking Film, NL). The participants of this think tank consist of 28 invited funders and EAVE producers.

The session Producing in and with Germany gives an overview of the production landscape in Germany, and its co-production possibilities. Speakers will be Martin Hampel (Pallas Film), Dana Messerschmidt (MDM), Malika Rabahallah (FFHSH) and Oliver Zeller (MBB). The session will be moderated by EAVE graduate Tanja Georgieva-Waldhauer (elemag pictures).

EAVE Management coach Michael Comyn (The Fearless Organisation, IE) will give an introduction to the art of negotiation and train the participants in group sessions, as well as offer individual meetings on Emotional Intelligence and Resilience.

Prior to the official programme, an optional pre-workshop on Mindfulness, leadership and creativity by Michael Ulrich (Phuset, DK) is offered, where the participants learn about mindfulness, develop their personal leadership and understand how the tools presented can offer another way to be in highly intensive and challenging processes and let creativity flourish.

The first two sessions of the EAVE 2019 Producers Workshop took place in Luxembourg (March 8-15) and Novi Sad, Serbia (June 20-27).

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
