EAVE European Producers workshop in Skopje – in partnership with the Macedonian Film Agency

Press release

The second edition of the EAVE Producers Workshop 2015 will take place in Skopje, Macedonia, during June 24 – July 1.

The workshop, organized in partnership with the Macedonian Film Agency, will bring together 48 participants from 30 countries.

The workshop week in Skopje is the second one of the three workshops of the year-long EAVE training for independent producers. The participants of this year were selected from a total of 166 applicants, and come from all over the world. In addition to most of the European countries, e.g. Argentina, Brazil, Turkey and Singapore are represented as well, just to mention a few.

As EAVE CEO Kristina Trapp puts it: “We are particularly happy to bring the second EAVE workshop this year to Skopje because of our strong partnership with the Macedonian Film Agency, its director Darko Basheski and his great team with whom we have a long history in organizing workshops in the region".

The Macedonian Film Agency’s acting director Darko Basheski states that: “It is a great honor and pleasure of ours to be the host for the second edition of the EAVE Producers Workshop 2015. We are very grateful for this opportunity and trust which will further complement the successful collaboration and partnership that the Macedonian Film Agency and the EAVE team have established throughout the years. Even though this would indeed be a very intensive workshop, I sincerely hope that each of the participants would get a chance to experience a glimpse of Macedonia.”

During the workshop week, various aspects of film production will be addressed, including marketing, financing and sales. The 2015 EAVE pedagogical team is composed of EAVE Head of Studies Jani Thiltges (Luxembourg), the four group leaders (all active, experienced producers), Roshanak Behesht Nedjad (In Good Company GmbH, DE), Lise Lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films, DK), Riina Sildos (Amrion, EE) and Patrick Sobelman (Agat Films & Cie, FR); the script consultants Clare Downs (UK), Jacques Akchoti (FR), Martin Daniel (USA), and documentary expert Sylvia Stevens (Faction Films, UK). They are supported by the specialized experts for Pitching: Sibylle Kurz (DE), Finance: Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks, IT), Marketing: Sarah Calderon (The Film Agency, ES) and Legal Issues: Roberto Olla (Eurimages, EU), who share their expertise in plenary and group work sessions and individual meetings with the EAVE participants.

Music rights expert Laurence Kaye from the UK will discuss the music rights issues related to the projects of the participants. Didar Domehri (Full House – Manekifilms, FR) will share her insight into sales and international market. An expert panel – EAVE Head of Studies Jani Thiltges, EAVE Finance Expert Linda Beath and producers Christine Alderson (Ipso Facto Films, UK), EAVE group leader Danijel Hocevar (Vertigo, SI), Titus Kreyenberg (unafilm, DE) and Leena Pasanen (DOK Leipzig, DE) – will give detailed advise on the project finance plans.

The local film industry presents itself to the EAVE participants in a special session on Producing in and with Macedonia. The session will be opened by Minister of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia Ms. Elizabeta Kanceska Milevska. Acting Director of the Macedonian Film Agency Darko Basheski will present the co-production possibilities and cash rebate in Macedonia. Producer Ognen Antov (Dream Factory) will present a case study of “Monument to Michael Jackson”, EAVE 2011 project co-produced by Antov (SR/GE/MK/HR co-production).

In addition, there will be on June 28-29 a separate EAVE@Skopje workshop for local professionals, during which 4 selected projects from Macedonia will be consulted in group work and individual meetings by EAVE experts Linda Beath, Sibylle Kurz, Titus Kreyenberg and Anita Voorham, in addition to which Didar Domehri will give a plenary on Sales and International Market tailor-made for the local participants.
