EAVE European Producers Workshop 2014 launched in Luxembourg

As every year, the first part of the EAVE European Producers Workshop took place in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in partnership with the Film Fund Luxembourg. For this year's workshop 1 during March 10 – 17 at the Légère Premium Hotel Luxembourg, we were delighted to welcome 50 producers from 29 countries bringing 32 documentary and feature projects to work on throughout the year.

The 2014 EAVE pedagogical team is composed of EAVE Head of Studies Jani Thiltges (Luxembourg), the four group leaders (all active, experienced producers), Roshanak Behesht Nedjad (Flying Moon, DE), Diana Elbaum (Entre chien et loup, BE), Lise Lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films, DK) and Riina Sildos (Amrion, EE); the script consultants Clare Downs (UK), Jacques Akchoti (FR), Martin Daniel (USA), and documentary expert Sylvia Stevens (Faction Films, UK). They are supported by the specialized experts for Pitching: Sibylle Kurz (DE), Finance: Linda Beath (Ideal Filmworks, IT), Marketing: Sarah Calderon (The Film Agency, ES) and Legal Issues: Katrine Schlüter Schierbeck (Johan Schlüter law firm, DK), who share their expertise in plenary and group work sessions and individual meetings with the EAVE participants.

Individual meetings with the script analysts as well as special sessions dedicated to script development tools and documentary film development complemented the schedule.

Guest expert Paul Tyler, founder of the Danish company Handling Ideas, showed the participants how to develop an idea into a concept using a simple toolbox that allows filmmakers to develop stories and formats.

EAVE script consultant Clare Downs gave insight into the script development process and the tools needed and analyse the Oscar ® nominated film BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN by Felix Van Groeningen.

Danish producer and EAVE group leader Lise Lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films) devoted her plenary session to the specific questions related to the development of documentaries.

EAVE@Luxembourg: Marketing consultant Sarah Calderon (The Film Agency, ES) gave an extra presentation on marketing and alternative distribution tailor made for local professionals’ needs at the Centre national de l’Audiovisuel in Luxembourg.

EAVE expresses special gratitude for the support of Workshop 1 to: Film Fund Luxembourg, Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Luxembourg, Légère Premium Hotel Luxembourg.
