B’EST - Producers’ Workshop Baltic Bridge East by West 

The call for the 3rd edition of  Baltic Bridge East by West (B’EST), a producer's workshop organized in cooperation with EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) and with the support from Creative Europe MEDIA Programme, is now open for 12 participants - 8 with feature film projects from the European Union (4 participants) and the CIS countries, Georgia and Ukraine (4 participants), and 4 participants without projects - 3 from the EU and 1 from the CIS countries, Georgia and Ukraine.

B’EST consists of two workshops, which will take place on November 24-28, 2014, in Tallinn, within the framework of Baltic Event, and in June 2015 in Moscow within the framework of Moscow Business Square. The workshop will offer the selected participants:

  • workshop-training, which includes plenaries on the script development process, financing in the Eastern and Western Europe, legal aspects of co-production, marketing strategies, as well as individual meetings with script, pitching and finance/marketing consultants 
  • meetings with experts, decision-makers and potential co-production partners during Baltic Event in Tallinn, Estonia 
  • online sessions with the producers and tutors concerning the development of the scripts and the projects during the 6-month gap between the workshops 
  • follow-up session regarding the development of the projects and the final preparation for pitching at Moscow Business Square
  • presentation of the projects at Moscow Business Square and meetings with potential financiers, co-producers, sales agents, and distributors 

Target group: 

  • experienced feature film producers and representatives of audiovisual industry wishing to work on an international scale and create long-term creative and business relationships between Western and Eastern Europe 
  • interested producers should apply with a feature film project in development stage 
  • individuals who wish to participate without projects must present their track record and letter of motivation

Project criteria (only for applicants with projects):

  • full-length feature film with potential for theatrical distribution
  • suitable for an international co-production and looking for co-producers
  • preferably national support in place
  • projects from the European Union and Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are accepted
  • projects should have a link to the other region (thematic, cultural, technical) and the producer should be motivated to work with / in the other region 

Special conditions:

  • participation includes an accreditation fee of 200 Euros for participants with projects and 100 Euros for participants without projects
  • once the selection is confirmed, the participant should be present at both workshops
  • the programme covers accommodation and part of the travel expenses
  • finalized films must mention their participation at B’EST in the credits
  • all documents have to be sent in English – the working language of the workshop is English
  • submission of the application is considered as acceptance of special conditions

  • director’s note on aesthetics and structure (1-2 pages)
  • biography/filmography of the director
  • biography/filmography of the producer
  • production company profile (max. 300 words)
  • budget outline in English
  • financing plan
  • motivation letter from the producer

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: September 1, 2014

The selection will be made by a selection committee and will be published by the end of October 2014.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
