Masterclass on financing adaptations, pitching session and individual meetings

May 20 - 21, Cannes, France

The Shoot the book! Days have been organized by the Institut français and the SCELF (Civil Society of French Language Publishers), with the support the Marché du Film and EAVE on Monday May 20th and Tuesday May 21st during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Due to limited access and high demand, all events were on registration only.
 

Monday, May 20th

Location: Hôtel Windsor – Adosom (16 avenue Windsor, 06400 Cannes)

3 pm – 5 pm: Masterclass “Financing adaptations” by Linda Beath

A detailed discussion of the financing of a film, from its development stages, through to the elements involved in packaging the film for production and its marketing for the release to the audience.

5.15 pm - 6.30 pm: Panel discussion: “What is a good book for adaptation”

with Vera Peltekian, Canal Plus Fiction, Marie Darrieussecq, author and head of the CNC “advance on receipts” commission. Further speakers TBC.

 

Tuesday, May 21st  

10.30 am to 12.30 pm: Shoot the Book pitch session: Ten publishers will pitch brand new content selected by an international jury. The session is followed by a cocktail.
Location: Salon des Ambassadeurs - Palais des Festivals / 1, boulevard de la croisette, 06400 Cannes


3 pm to 6 pm: One-to-one meetings between publishers and registered producers. 41 French and international rights managers will present rights catalogue and new opportunities. Discover the publishers’ catalogue attached.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
