Biography
Palmyre is a producer based in Geneva - Switzerland. In March 2022, she joined Pauline Gygax and Marx Karli at RITA PRODUCTION.
She studied Arabic Literature and International Relations and has worked in France and abroad in the fields of journalism, diplomacy and international artistic exchanges. Her career in the film industry began in 2006, in Ramallah from where she developed several feature projects for Palestinian production company DAR FILMS.
In 2008, Palmyre graduated with a Master in Law and Management for the Audiovisual Industry. The same year, she founded in Paris LES FILMS DE ZAYNA an independent production company with a strong focus on stories and talents from the Arab World. Through European and international coproductions, Palmyre she produced several award-winning documentaries. With her EAVE project GHOST HUNTING (2017) a hybrid feature by Raed Andoni, she won the Best documentary award of the Berlinale.
Between 2017 and 2021, she worked as a producer for Akka Films production company in Geneva. Her latest titles include:
- BECOMING A BLACK WOMAN (2022), a documentary by Juliana Fanjul and Rachel M'Bon, Swiss cinéma award for best short film,
- UNDER THE FIG TREES (2022) by Erige Sehiri
- A THOUSAND FIRES (2021) an EAVE project documentary by Saeed Taji Farouky coproduced with Point-Du-Jour / Balibari (FR) and Bind (NL), premiered at Locarno Critics'Week and IDFA,
- L'ETINCELLE (2021) a documentary by Valeria Mazzucchi and Antoine Harari, premiered at Visions du Reel,
- MARIA COBRA PRETA (2019) a short fiction by Erika Nieva da Cunha, premiered in Winterthur.
She also coproduced with Eave EPW graduated Vladimer Katcharava the Georgian project VENECIA by Rusudan Chkonia
and produced Konstantin Bojanov's third feature THE SHAMELESS, both to be delivered in 2023
Among others, Palmyre currently develops Felipe Monroy's hybrid documentary SIMON THE ABSURD,, Larissa Sansour & Søren Lind's first feature HEIRLOOM.
