Biography

I am a career producer in charge of keeping the vision of a project consistent. I love concentrating mainly on story development while securing the right partners for the right idea. I was lucky enough for my credits to include a recent OSCAR and BAFTA-nominated European film, multiple award-winning titles and audience success stories. Some of my career highlights include co-producing "Donbas" (Un Certain Regard Award, Cannes 2018), after the Silver Bear winner, "Ana Mon Amour", Berlin 2017 and Critic's Week winner, "Albüm", Cannes 2016. I strive to sustain real artists and connect them to their audiences by strongly committing to good dealmaking using the most up-to-date business knowledge. I am a Screen Leaders 2018, Inside Pictures 2019, and EAVE 2020 alum. I underwent an MBA in European Film Business and Law at german Film Uni. Babelsberg and the University of Potsdam. I hold a BA(Hons) in Film editing. I have a Master’s Degree in Creative Business from the NFTS in London and did the renowned NFTS Script Development diploma course. In the past—before living in London, I started as an entrepreneur in 2010 with the production company Digital Cube in Romania, also doing post. Then, for in-kind financing, beginning in 2016, I helped build and hence owned a majority stake in Avanpost- one of Eastern Europe's most comprehensive post-production hubs- I successfully sold by 2022 after a period of significant growth. I invested in or supervised the post-production of over 50 pan-European or highly international TV titles, including US studio films. Before all that, I cut my teeth as an assistant editor, mainly for several US indie titles and, later, proudly became a film editor for a few, including for an Emmy-winning documentary. It’s just since 2015 that I have specialised in international financing and found a passion for helping others find their story. In the last 5 years—I focused out of London on film development and high-end TV series script editing, becoming attached as a producer to multiple award-worthy projects and highly international talent. I have been one of the European co-producers of "Quo Vadis, Aida?" directed by Jasmila Zbanic, which opened in Venice in 2020, later won the top prize at the European Film Awards 2022 and was nominated for the OSCARS and BAFTAS in 2021. Recently—I have been one of the producers for "Nowhere Special" (directed by Uberto Pasolini, an Italy-Romania-UK official co-production) starring James Norton, which gladly surprised with some of the best reviews of the year once it opened in the US theatres in 2024.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
