Biography

Alessandro Amato graduated in Production at the Gian Maria Volonté School of Film Art in Rome soon after his Master's Degree in Law, studying at Bocconi University in Milan and Roma Tre University. From 2008 he further developed his profile through professional experiences in theatre as producer, director and AD, in cinema as line and executive producer, and in organising cultural events. In 2015 he co-founded with Luigi Chimienti the production company dispàrte, producing films selected and awarded in different international festivals. Margini (2022), by Niccolò Falsetti, premiered at the International Critic’s Week of 2022 Venice Film Festival, winning the Audience Award. Maternal (2019), by Maura Delpero, premiered at 2019 Locarno Film Festival - Concorso Internazionale, where it won four awards, and was later selected in over 100 international festivals, winning 30 awards, including the Cannes 2020 Women in Motion Young Talent Award and obtaining a nomination for Best Emerging Director at Nastri d'Argento and David di Donatello Awards. In 2022 he was among the 20 emerging European producers selected for the Producers On The Move program in Cannes. He's a European Film Academy and European Producers Club member, a Berlinale Talents alumni, part of ACE and EAVE Networks, and a board member of AGICI - Producers Guild of Italy. He teaches audiovisual Production and pitching at Sapienza University and IED Visual Art Academy.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
