Biography

Oriol Maymó is graduated in Audiovisual Communication for the ESCAC, the School Cinema of Catalonia in the area of scriptwriting and production. He has been a line producer of different feature films (2002-the present) “Cuento de Navidad”, Filmax company, directed by Paco Plaza, “Adivina quien soy”, Filmax company, directed by Enrique Urbizu, “Las vidas de celia”, Oberon company, directed by Antonio Chavarrias, “La Masseria della Allodole”, Sagrera TV, directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, “Rec” , “Rec 2”, “Rec 3” and “Rec 4” Filmax company, directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza and “Buried” directed by Rodrigo Cortés. He has also been the line producer of the TV serie “The red band society” (the 2 seasons) for TV3 (the Catalan Television) that has became a very successful Tv serie in Spain. During that time he has also been a professor for many masters of diferents Universities like Universitat Ramon Llull, CECC (Centre d’estudis cinematografics de Catalunya), ESCAC (Escola de Cinema i Audiovisual de Catalunya), Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Autonoma Between 2007-2010 has been the executive producer for the company Sagrera Audiovisual, producing with them two feature films “Cuatro estaciones” and “El Dios de Madera”, and currently he is also the producer and one of the owners of CORTE Y CONFECCION DE PELÍCULAS. He has also been the Executive Producer of all the films of the company. PRODUCTION COMPANY PROFILE CORTE Y CONFECCION DE PELÍCULAS & REEL LOCO Corte y confección de películas is a company devoted to feature and documentary films for teatrical. Has three partners, all of them from the cinema industry: Bernat Vilaplana, (editor of “Pan’s Labyrinth” and Hell boy 2” of Guillermo del Toro, o “The impossible” of Juan Antonio Bayona, Marc Gómez del Moral (DoP and the scripwriter of “Pontianak” (C.V. in the project) and Oriol Maymó, the producer (C.V in the project). In 2009 we produced our first documentary film of 86’ “Ich bin Enric Marco” that has been in many Festivals (Festival Internacional de las Palmas, Locarno Film Festival, Festival Internacional de San Sebastian and Rotterdam Film Festival). We have also done three other films, “Qatar, the race” (2010) of Alba Sotorra in coproduction with the Catalan TV, “Little World” (2012) of Marcel Barrena in coproduction with Umbilical Productions, the Catalan TV (TV3) and the Spanish TV (TVE), that has won IDFA (wining the First Award for Docu U), Docaviv International Film Festiva, TIFF, MakeDox, Shangai (2013)…. And recently we have just done “Otel·lo” (2013) of Hammudi Al-Rahmoun, a feature film in coproduction with Escándalo Films, that has won the ECU Film Festival (Paris), “Best feature Film” & “Best Actreess”, the Antártida Film Festival, “Best audience award”, the Festival DA (Barcelona), “Best audience award” and the PNR (Festival de cine de Madrid), “Best feature film” all of them in 2013. Has also been selected in Festival Internacional de Sevilla, and in the Festival of Donosti (2013), We are in posproduction with an other documentary film, “Impensada, usurpada, recuperada” (2013) of David Reznak and we are in production with a new feature film “The corpse of Alba Ribas”, of Héctor Hernández. We are also preparing and looking for financing of three new feature films “Sombie” of Santiago Fillol, “Pontianak”, in coproduction with Reel Loco, a Singapure production company, that they do usually advertisments and that will be their first feature films. Reel Loco create, conceptualise, produce and direct with full post production capability. Their multidisciplinary team has the capacity to create in the realm of 2D, 3D and everything in-between. At the inaugural Super Pitch Asia in 2000, we were one of the 6 shortlisted finalists. Adding on to that, in 2002 we also received a commendation for our documentary film proposal submission for the National Geographic Channels and EDB Singapore Documentary Film Proposal Fund. Executive Producer, Joey Chan, a 2-time PROMAX winner, will oversee this project.

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
