Biography

Michel Balagué produces and co-produces feature films, documentaries and artistic projects. Previous films include RUDAR - The Miner by Hanna Slak (Slovenia Oscar Entry - 25 Awards in international Festivals) release in five Territories, In the Last Days of the City, by Tamer El Said (Calligary award in the 66th Berlinale, Best Director in Bafici, Best Film in Wroclaw and Les 3 Continents) released in nine territories; Sieniawka by Marcin Malaszczak (63rd Berlinale - first film prize in FID Marseille), My Love Awaits Me by the Sea by Mais Darwazah (TIFF 2013), Face B by Leila Albayaty (65th Berlinale), Sign Space by Hila Peleg (66th Berlinale), \"Muito Romantico\" by Gustavo Jahn and Melissa Dullius (66th Berlinale). He is actually developing Not A Word, Hanna Slak’s 4th feature film, two documentaries and two artist’s films. He participate in EAVE Producers Workshop 2019. He was selected for the Emerging Producers Program in Jihlava; the Studio program of the New Horizons Festival in Wroc?aw and in the Berlinale Talents program. He is regularly invited to join different co- production platforms such as Cinemart, Open Doors Locarno, FID-LAB (Marseille) and the Torino Film Lab. Alongside his work as a producer, Michel co-founded the super 8 & 16mm collective LaborBerlin in 2006. He has collaborated with a range of art institutions around the world, mostly on film related projects, and previously had a career as an award-winning DOP. Michel Balagué lives and works in Berlin where he has been based since 2003.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
