PUENTES – Europe / Latin America Co-Production Workshop 2019:

PUENTES is the most relevant and successful training programme for developing European-Latin American co-production as the track record of successful production shows: THE SHARKS (LOS TIBURONES), by Lucia Garibaldi & produced by Pancho Magnou (Montelona Cine, Uruguay) has premiered in Sundance World Cinema Dramatic Competition and has won the BEST DIRECTOR award. 

Some other recent examples of films developed at PUENTES are for example I DREAM IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE, (SUEÑO EN OTRO IDIOMA), by Ernesto Contreras (Best Picture & Best Original Screenplay & Best Cinematography & Best Original Score & Best Sound & Best Actor at Mexico's 60th Ariel Awards 2018) THE HEIRESSES by Marcelo Martinessi (Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize & Silver Bear Best Actress & FIPRESCI Award & Teddy Readers’ Award at the Berlinale 2018, Premio Netflix Ópera Prima, Best Director at Latin America Fénix Film Awards 2018. The film has been nominated to represent Paraguay at Foreign Language Academy Awards race 2019) UN TRADUCTOR by Sebastián & Rodrigo Barriuso (Golden Goblet for Best Director at Shangai Film Festival 2018), and many more.

The above mentioned projects had been selected for the PUENTES – Europe / Latin America Co-Production Workshop, where the projects were developed over one year by the attending producers under the guidance of top notch consultants, working on the script development, the financial, co-production, marketing and distribution strategies and where the producers extended their professional network meeting key players of the industry in Europe and Latin America.

PUENTES is targeted at Latin American & European producers focusing on project development, 10 of which will be selected for the workshop. We are also open to receive the applications of other European professionals interested in working with Latin America (sales agents, financiers, distributors, festival programmers, co-production market representatives) or European producers focusing on career development (not bringing a specific project) . 4-5 of them will be selected to be an active part of the group.

The 14-15 selected participants attend 2 workshops. The first one will be held in Fiuggi, Italy (June 10-14, 2019) in partnership with FVG Audiovisual Fund, with the support of MIBAC (Ministero dei Beni Ambientali e Culturali) and the collaboration of ROMA LAZIO FILM COMMISSION. Workshop 2 will be held in Punta del Este, Uruguay (November 27 – December 1, 2019) in partnership with Mutante Cine, with the support of ICAU (Instituto de Cine y Audiovisual del Uruguay), Egeda, Montevideo Socio Audiovisual and Centro Cultural España.

Thanks to a special partnership, all participants are able to attend VENTANA SUR (December 2 – 7, 2019) in Buenos Aires after workshop 2.

For 2019, PUENTES has received support from IBERMEDIA PROGRAMME that will allow us to provide scholarships to participants from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

The EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS is February 27, 2019.

The selection will be made by a selection committee and will be published by April 21, 2019.

Selection interviews might be held via SKYPE.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
