A 2-day tailor-made forum

March 17-18, Clervaux

EAVE organises an EAVE ON DEMAND session in co-operation with Film Fund Luxembourg from March 17-18 in Clervaux, Luxembourg, for the fund`s selection committee, project managers, management team and board members.

During the 2-day tailor-made forum, the participating delegates and experts will work together on script assessment and development, European film finance, legal issues of development and co-production, marketing and distribution strategies. 

Film Fund Luxembourg was first established in 1990. It exists primarily to promote and foster an environment in which the country’s film production industry can develop and flourish. The Fund implements the overall policy of the government’s support for audiovisual productions. 

EAVE experts Clare Downs (Script Consultant, UK), Pierre-Emmanuel Mouthuy (Mouthuy Avocats, Belgium), Álvaro Vega (Doblesentido, Spain), Pierre-Emmanuel Mouthuy (Mouthuy Avocats, Belgium) and Jean-Baptiste BABIN (Backup Film, France) will share their experiences during the 2 day think tank. 

Clare Downs – Script consultant (UK) 

Script consultant, scriptwriter, Visiting lecturer at the National Film and Television School (UK) and the MAScreenwriting Dept at De Montfort University. Producer - The Dress (BAFTA), High Season (San Sebastian, BestScreenplay). Clare Downs has been a founding member of the EAVE script analyst team since 1989. Also Headof Studies of the Southern African producer training programme, AVEA, Script Expert for the South CaucasianFilm Project (IFSCA), the Jerusalem International Film Lab, and has extensive international script consulting andworkshop experience.

Pierre-Emmanuel Mouthuy - Mouthuy Avocats (BE) – legal expert

Founder of Mouthuy Avocats – a Brussels-based leading law firm in the entertainment industry – he has been involved in more than 50 cinematographic feature film productions or co-productions, out of which several have been presented to the most prestigious film festivals (Cannes,Berlin, Venice, Toronto), and more than 40 television productions or co-productions (TV-series, documentaries, etc.).

Álvaro Vega - Doblesentido (ES)  – marketing expert    

Álvaro Vega is a highly experienced professional in  films promotion. Graduated in Marketing, Advertising and PR, he managed during more than 5 years (2007-­2012) the marketing and publicity areas at Vértigo Films, one  of the main Spanish distributors now under the structure of Wild Bunch. In this time frame, he did accumulate more than 70 films promoted, from blockbusters like the Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium Trilogy” to new  filmmakers releases, as well as the best international independent cinema by directors such as David Lynch, Gus Van Sant,    Wong Kar-Wai, Mike Leigh or Sofia Coppola among many others. Since  2012, Álvaro develops his activity as CEO & Founder of DobleSentido, his own agency of marketing, communication, events and training for the cinema industry. He recently designed and managed the communication and publicity campaign in Spain and USA of the Oscars 2014 Nominee ‘Aquel no era yo’ (‘That wasn’t me) by Esteban Crespo.    

Jean-Baptiste Babin, Backup Films (FR)

Jean-Baptiste Babin is a founding partner and Head of Co-productions for Backup Films, a Paris-based Film Financing Agency. Law graduate in Paris and London, Jean-Baptiste started his film industry career as business and legal affairs at Paris-based production company Elzevir Films before joining Backup Films.  Since 2002, Backup Films, part of the Backup Media Group, has packaged the financing and distribution of over 100 ambitious international film productions through co-productions, pre-sales, equity and bartering. Beside its  financing and packaging agency Backup Films, Backup Media Group also operates several investment vehicles through its arm B Media Management, to finance development, production and exploitation of film and TV productions.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
