APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR THE 3rd EDITION OF EAVE+
APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR THE 3rd EDITION OF EAVE+
for experienced producers from Europe and the rest of the world!
After two successful editions in September 2013 and January 2014, EAVE+ goes into the third round. 12-15 experienced producers and 6 high-profile industry experts will gather during 4 days to discuss their company structures, management practices and new business models.
The third edition of EAVE+ will take place during September 17-21, 2014 at the hotel Le Place D’Armes in Luxembourg.
Applications are open for independent producers with a solid track record and international experience from Europe and the rest of the world until June 26, 2014.
A limited number of scholarships are available for participants from selected MEDIA countries.
Led by EAVE Head of Studies Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film, LU) together with EAVE+ consultant Michael Weber (The Match Factory, DE), keynote sessions by international guests will be mixed with group work sessions and 1-2-1 meetings.
Among the guests this time are German producer Stefan Arndt who will run a company case study about his production and distribution outlets X-Filme and X-Verleih. Management coach Michael Comyn (IE) will work with the producers on leadership, management skills and personal resilience. Anne Flamant (Head of the cinema department at the OBCNeuflize bank in France) will give an overview of new ways of film financing in the French film industry. US indie producer Mike S. Ryan will share his experience with and provide insight into the world of the American independents.
Some comments from the previous editions:
« I thought it was a great four days and served as a real think tank for experienced producers to gain perspective on our changing world. »
Mike S. Ryan, Greyshack Films, USA
« The EAVE+ workshop was extremely useful on many levels - practical information on a range of subjects from promoting films on VoD platforms to how to work on one's resilience in stressful situations to raising private equity and managing those investor relationships. The networking element also really paid off in terms of finding a co-producer with access to a national fund in a country where one of my projects takes place, and that funding application is now underway.»
Natasha Dack, Tigerlily Films, UK
« It was hugely inspiring and interesting to look back and forward at our companies and the ever changing film environment in a greatly open atmosphere with an international group of colleague creative entrepreneurs. Priceless and inspiring to share thoughts and ideas, weakness and strengths about leading our companies and the ever changing film environment. »
Hanneke Niens, KeyFilm, The Netherlands
« It was the perfect moment for me and my partner to come to EAVE +, … (the) best moment to take a look… and see how it works for people with (the) same passion, but living and working in a completely different environment. »
Fernando Epstein, Mutante Cine, Uruguay
« The combination of people both participants and experts was magnificent and lead to a complete openness that I could not have imagined possible between a group of professionals at this stage of their careers. It was like an AA for producers, very painful but critical for our wellbeing. I am looking at everything since quite differently. »
Christine Alderson, Ipso Facto Films, UK
EAVE+ is organised twice a year in Luxembourg with different keynote speakers and topics addressed at each workshop session.
EAVE+ is supported by the MEDIA Programme of the EU and the Luxembourg Film Fund.

EUROPEAN GAP-FINANCING CO-PRODUCTION MARKET
Venice, August 29th and 30th
Deadline for the registration of the projects : 27th June, 2014
The Venice International Film Festival plays a central role in the worldwide recognition of quality films from all over the world and especially from Europe. Created in 2012, the Venice Film Market (VFM) is devoted to offer to the key cinema industry players a new rendez-vous and platform to present and discover high-quality films and projects.
The VFM has thus decided to launch a new kind of co-production market targeted to the industry professionals attending the Festival.
The Venice European Gap-Financing Co-Production Market is a platform to support the European producers to secure the final financing of their projects through one-to-one meetings with potential and pertinent international professionals (producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, broadcasters and funds).
This two days event (August 29th and 30th) will take place during the forthcoming edition of the Venice Film Market (August 28th, September 2nd) and will offer the 16 selected projects (8 European and 8 Italian) the opportunity to close their international financing.
A tailor-made initiative of this kind requests a real confidentiality for the producers and the partners already in place and a first Project line-up will therefore be sent to selected potential financiers and professionals in order to allow them to register to this co-production market.
The catalogue detailing each film project will then be emailed to the registered professionals by the end of July/beginning of August 2014 to entitle them to request 30-minute one-to-one meeting with the producers of the selected projects. The Venice European Gap-Financing Co-Production Market will set up these meetings in accordance with the availability of the participants and meetings slots. Each participant will receive a personalised meeting schedule a few days before the event.
