CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: EAVE 2014 EUROPEAN PRODUCERS WORKSHOP - DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 20, 2013

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: EAVE 2014 EUROPEAN PRODUCERS WORKSHOP - DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 20, 2013

EAVE, European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, is one of the leading training and development providers for producers in Europe, renowned for its European Producers Workshop.

Who is it for?

EAVE is aimed at producers, both fiction and documentary, who are already working in the film and television industries, who wish to begin to operate on a European wide basis by increasing their knowledge of producing and co-producing in Europe and by building up a pan European professional network. We also welcome applications from associated branches of the industry - e.g. commissioning, funding, legal and finance, festivals & markets, media administration. Each year fifty participants are selected from most of the EU countries and beyond and take part in three one-week long workshops.

How does it work?

Half the participants attend the course with projects and it is an excellent means of development through intense focus on the project with colleagues and experts throughout the year. Most participants attending with a project also bring their writer for the first two weeks which enables producer and writer to benefit together from one-to-one sessions with script experts.

During the first two workshops, in March and June, participants work within groups led by experienced producers and with several experts on script analysis, development and production financing, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching, packaging and more. In the third week in October/November, 40-50 Decision Makers (commissioning editors, national and regional media funds, sales agents, etc.) join the participants to discuss the projects, companies and careers of the participants, a process which offers unusual access to Europe's Decision Makers.

EAVE graduates join a unique network of active European producers which forms one of the backbones of the industry. Furthermore, EAVE participants and members benefit from our partnerships with the leading European film festivals and markets where EAVE facilitates graduate participation.

Timeline

The interviews with a pre-selection of candidates will take place in autumn 2013 and the selection will be announced in December 2013. The 3 workshops take place during March 10 - 17 in Luxembourg (LU), June 16 - 23 in Bolzano/South Tyrol (IT) and October/November (tbc) in Istanbul (TR, tbc) 2014.

Deadline for APPLICATIONS: September 20, 2013

Call for applications: EAVE 2014 European Producer Workshop - deadline September, 2013

Call for applications: EAVE 2014 European Producer Workshop - deadline September 20, 2013

MANNHEIM MEETING PLACE 2013 Call for applications

Dear EAVE producers,

IFF MANNHEIM HEIDELBERG has published their call for applications for the 4th edition of the MANNHEIM MEETING PLACE taking place 4th to 7th November 2013.

MMP is a co-production event aimed especially at start up majority producers (first or second feature), with some artistic ambition. Please check the festival flyer here.

This effort thus echoes the profile of the Mannheim Heidelberg Film Festival (now in it’s 62nd year) which has always aimed at supporting start-up feature directors.

Projects collected by July/August 2013 are turned into short Project Outlines aimed specifically at co-producers and are sent out to relevant  minority producers and  industry experts from a network covering over  20 countries.

Feedback is given throughout the 3-month period running up to Mannheim, and dialogue initiated. Relationships that develop constructively mostly result in full invitations for appointments in Mannheim,(travel and accommodation included).

The result tends to be an event that is perhaps smaller in numbers but much more focussed for final participants. It is fair to say that out of perhaps 300 appointments, half will find place virtually before the event – thus helping weed out less promising elements in a natural manner.

MMP also do their best to provide an extensive network of guests – with some exceptions (MMP tends to a policy of only one majority and one minority producer per country or funding source, especially differentiating between genres. Thus our 60 or so final guests come from well over 30 countries).

Likewise, the industry events during MMP involve experts who are not just passing speakers but are involved with MMP for the whole lead-up period – e.g. this year we are promised an examination of DoP Slawek Idziak’s new “Previs” idea for presenting projects for reaction and financing.(Google  “Film Spring Open  2013”). Examples will be going out at the end of August for feedback.

We thus invite you to check out the Producer Guidelines on the web-site http://www.iffmh.de/en/MannheimMeetingPlace/2013/Guidelines, and/or contact julek@compuserve.com with any expressions of interest. Those who start working with MMP by end of July have always a better chance of obtaining a maximum out of the process.
