Biography

Born in Alexandria (Egypt), Adolf El Assal has spent most of his childhood between the UAE, UK and Luxembourg. In 2008, his first feature film as a producer, DIVIZIONZ was selected at the Berlin International Film Festival and was selected at over 100 festivals and sold in more than 30 territories. In 2011, he directed the award-winning short films THE NOTORIOUS ROAD... and GOD’S HAND. In 2014, he completed his first feature directorial effort THE NOTORIOUS GUYS, that he produced, directed and successfully distributed in French-speaking countries. He has recently completed his second feature film SAWAH, which had a very solid festival run (over 70 selections, 20 prizes) and is the first film from Luxembourg to be sold to Netflix. His upcoming feature film HOOPED is slated for 2022 and he is currently directing the Belgian comedy series BARAKI. Ady is also a Berlinale Talents as well as an EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneur) and Screen Leaders alumni. He has recently been accepted into the prestigious European Film Academy and is working closely with the Luxembourg government on the creative part of the Luxembourg pavilion at the Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away in 2016. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
