EAVE Newsflash – 4 Oscars® for EAVE producers in LA!
After a fantastic festival start for EAVE producers in 2018, including prestigious awards like the Golden Bear, Silver Bears and many other main festival prizes, we are thrilled to add a whopping 4 Academy Awards to their list of success stories!
The Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film went to A FANTASTIC WOMAN directed by Sebastian Lelio, a film co-produced by EAVE graduates Jonas Dornbach and Fernanda del Nido!
EAVE graduate Jonas Dornbach remarks: "A FANTASTIC WOMAN is a co-production with Chile-Germany-US and Spain! With EAVE in 2007 I started to build up my international network witch is the back bone for every co-production I do."
EAVE graduate Fernanda del Nido underlines: "Participating in EAVE was a turning point in my professional life and it has provided me with the perfect network all these years."
A FANTASTIC WOMAN premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay and the Teddy Award. The first success was followd by an array of prestigious awards (Spirit Award for Best International Film, Goya Award for Best Latin American Film ..) and nominations in festivals around the world. The film was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics after its premiere in Berlin.
DUNKIRK directed by Christopher Nolan, delegate producer EAVE+ graduate Maarten Swart sccoped 3 Oscars® for Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mix! The film had been nominated for 8 Academy Awards and had received an array of awards including the BAFTA Award for Best Sound and AACTA International Award for Best Direction.
A total of 26 films by EAVE producers represented their country in the race for the Foreign Language Academy Awards, including EAVE project LAYLA M. produced by EAVE graduates Laurette Schillings, Frans van Gestel and Arnold Heslenfeld and EAVE project WAJIB, produced by EAVE graduates Ossama Bawardi and Ruben Thorkildsen!
LOVING VINCENT by Dorota Kobiela and EAVE graduate Hugh Welchman, produced by EAVE graduate Hugh Welchman was nominated for the Best Animation Academy Award, while STRONG ISLAND by Yance Ford, co-produced by EAVE graduate Signe Byrge Sørensen was competing for Best Documentary.
